Reaching Your Macro Goals

So I recently just started tracking my macros. I've been doing it for almost 2 weeks. I can't seem to hit my carbs, not even come close to my carb goal. I've been trying to eat more carb-rich fruits and whole grains but I can't seem to eat enough. Does anyone else have this issue or had it and can help?

Where did you get your macros from?
I wouldn’t be overly concerned personally
Just eat protein to maintain muscle mass (0.4-1.2gm/lb of lean mass depending on your exercise/goals) - fill in the rest of the calories as you want - as long as you feel satisfied and are getting nutrients then you’re grand.0 -
Totally understand your struggle! I am also counting macros
Try things like bread, tortillas, rice, white potatoes/sweet potatoes, oatmeal, cereal. Those should help with carbs too! Feel free to add me and check out my food diary too .)0 -
I have the opposite problem! I get in enough carbs (or sometimes go over) but have a hard time with protein. Today I had oatmeal with banana for breakfast, whole wheat pasta with vegetables and chickpeas for lunch, and a quinoa bowl for dinner (also with chickpeas). I'm not a vegetarian but today turned out to be a meatless day. If you eat whole grains and fruit with every meal, you should get more than enough carbs. Beans are also a good source of carbs (and protein!).0

I treat my fat and protein goals as minimums to get over every day and let my carbs fall where they fall. It's possible that not reaching your carb goals isn't even a problem unless you're seeing health, performance, or satiaty issues eating like this.2

I agree with this and do the same.0 -
I have the opposite issue...I struggle with going over my carbs. I don't like cauliflower rice and I've eaten so many zoodles I need a break I never reach my fat goal, and protein I'm improving. Bananas are a high-carb fruit which might be an easy way to add to your carb goal.0

Macro goals are just a guideline, and I'd say carbs are the least important one to hit. I strive to meet or exceed protein and fiber (though I don't sweat it when I don't) and don't pay much attention to the rest.1
