Hello!

Does anyone have any recommendations for cookbooks or recipes that are completely gluten free and vegan? I don't think I have a gluten intolerance, but I just feel a lot better when I don't consume foods that have gluten in it. I'm also slowly easing myself back into vegan eating, so any help would be great!

Thanks

  • You know, I think it would be great if I researched some of this first... the first thing I see on Amazon is a book. The title?

    Hi there,

There is actually a cookbook called "The Gluten Free Vegan", and I think there are several food blogs that give gluten free vegan recipes. You may want to check some of these out:

Are you very inexperienced with converting your own recipes? I'm only asking because many, many cookbooks are useful if you know how to convert recipes. Any pasta recipe can be subbed with rice pasta, for example, or spaghetti squash for spaghetti noodles. You can sub many kinds of milk for cow's milk, and there are lots of "butter" options available now, too!

I can really recommend the "Vegan Soul Food" cookbook from personal cooking. Gluten Free Girl (.com) has a good post on making your own GF all-purpose flour as well. Good luck!

I eat gluten free vegan but I dont really use much in the way of cook books etc I am trying ot stick to whole foods and they are always gluten free and vegan fruit veggies. Ive found gluten free packaged foods are always higer in calories and pretty much junk.

I'd also like to recommend to you a magazine called "Living Without" -- for people with dietary concerns. The focus is gluten free, but also dairy and egg free, it has some incredible recipes each month. I've been vegan for over 20 years now, and my wife has recently developed a gluten intolerance, so the magazine has something in it for both of us. The best part is they have a section that tells you how to make your own all purpose gluten free flours for baking, breads, pastas, pie crusts etc, and a substitution menu for items like milk and eggs. Can't recommend it enough.

    Hi there,

I found some Schar Gluten-Free Fusilli Pasta at my local health food store. I cooked it for dinner last night and used it with a recipe I found on www.vegweb.com. The sauce had avocados, sauteed onions and garlic, Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper to taste. I tossed it with the hot pasta, topped it with diced fresh tomato and nuts, and devoured it!
