Ive been on a low carb diet for the last 4 weeks while hitting 1900 - 2000 clories a day. Had my first cheat meal in 4 weeks which had a lot of carbs and ended up with a massive stomache ache. Anyone else experienced this ?

I would think any sudden, drastic change in your diet is going to result in some discomfort. It's going to result in a spike on the scale, too, but it's not because carbs make you fat. It's because carbs make you retain water (and if you ate much more than usual, extra volume in your intestinal tract). It will level back out in a few days.

Oh yeah; I pigged out for father's day for the first time in a while and it was one item that accounted for a lot of it - key lime pie. I had 3 slices for the day. I went well over goal, but I am in the middle of my range right now so I have room to go up a pound or two and just ease back down. Truth be told, it's easier to eat at a slight deficit than stay even. Anyway, back on the subject at hand, I did have some discomfort.

In almost 4.5 years here I've never had a cheat meal. So no.

Following up on my earlier post - I don't consider my Father's Day overage cheating as it was logged (I am wide open; you can check it if you want). I was just replying to the question of whether a meal like that can cause distress after not eating like that for a while. My answer is yes. When I was bigger, I ate like that fairly often and it didn't have that kind of effect. This morning, I was reaching for the Gas-X...

When I had McDonald's after not having it for a while, my stomach didn't like it. I don't eat "clean" but that was a big increase of grease that sat heavy for about a day

Back in December, 2017 I was on-site, closing a facility and all they had there was coke. Now, I had not had six sodas in the last 18 months, yet alone in one day. Dang, six cokes later.....no bueno! We will leave it at that (for the sake of the women and children in here!).

I did low carb/keto many years ago. When I had a cheat meal with lots of carbs, the consequences were a lot more severe (and potentially embarrassing!) than just a stomach ache. Rather explosive, you might say. Just one of several reasons I found keto unsustainable and quit doing it.

Wow. I would have floated out of there with all that gas!

This happened just recently at the Chinese buffet. I havent been there in probably a month and a half? And when I did eat there I would pick lighter options like the sushi and veggies at the hibachi grill. This time my trip involved more of the fried options. Let's just say I was in a hurry to get home after dinner was over. I'm guessing if it's just mild stomach issues, they body is reacting because it's not used to that type of food anymore. If it's along with body aches or more severe reaction, I'm guessing it would be food intolerance? I don't really know why this happens though, I'm just speculating.

I do eat what I want. I just fit it into my weekly calorie goals. Thus, no cheating.

This. I budget calories for what I want to eat. I "bank" calories earlier in the week if I know I'm going to have a large meal on the weekend. And I eat bigger meals on the days I burn more exercise calories. 2.5 years of weight loss and nearly one year in maintenance so far, with chocolate every day.
