Hello!
I just discovered MFP - I have been using Lose It! for 2-3 weeks and got frustrated and found this app/site, which I already like better. My goal is to lose between 30 & 45 pounds by no later than Feb, and I know it's attainable.
My frustration, however, is that I've been working my tail off for 3+ weeks (drinking 3L of water a day, watching my calorie intake, exercising 6x/week) and each week I see the scale go UP, not down. Today I decided to take measurements in inches as well.
Somebody who's been through this, please reassure me - this is okay, and I should just stick it out, right? It's gotta be between the water intake (my body can handle it, but I haven't regularly been drinking the right amount of water daily in YEARS until now) and the muscle gain that I'm seeing a weight gain... does anyone think I'm doing something wrong? This is so frustrating!

Hello everyone... I am 36 year old woman who just joined this website that was recommended by a wonderful friend. I have changed my way of living for the last month and joining this website this week has really helped me stay motivated and accountable for the foods I eat.0

Hi indiestace....Keep up the good work! It takes six weeks for your body to accept the changes such as dieting or exercising. After these six weeks that is when you will see more of a difference. It can be very discouraging but there will be a change:) I have been trying not to look at the scale because that is where I find it frustrating as well:) I think you are doing a great job !0

Hello My name is shelvy im 21 years old and I just discovered this site by searching for support groups and so far I really like what I see on here. I feel like loosing weight is something that really can't be done alone with out at least support from your loved ones or even total strangers. I hope to find the support that I need on here so that I can start my change0

Welcome to the MFP site!! It’s a great place for support and learn a thing or two. Your body is still going through some changes right now. If you’re trying to lose 30-40 lbs I can only assume it took more than a few weeks to get to that point. It takes time and there will be times when things just do not go as quick as we would like. Losing weight is a marathon and not a sprint; it’s not how fast you get out of the blocks but how consistent you are throughout your journey. If you’re working out as 6x a week make sure you are feeding your body as you do not want your body to go into starvation mode. You seem to have the drive to make this happen just be patient and you will get there because it’s a lifestyle change not a number change.0

Welcome.
I wouldn't get frustrated at the scales just yet. Taking measurements is a great idea to keep track of your non scale victories. Remember, you probably didn't gain the weight in a month, so don't expect to lose it quickly. There's a great support community here which will keep you motivated and encouraged!0
