Just found out our class reunion will be held on August 11th! I haven't seen so many of these folks since graduating in May of 2013-I have also gained around 29 pounds since high school and now it seems I really have to kick things in gear. I started back with MFP about 3 weeks ago and my goal was to lose 18 pounds by November but now I'm thinking I should re-evaluate and aim to lose 2 lbs/week to get try and drop another 14 pounds for the event. I'm down about 4 pounds now so hitting my November goal would be an added bonus! Anyone else have upcoming reunions you need to get ready for?

You can do it, this was my basic reason for starting again in Jan, got a message about my 10 year reunion in July. In 6 months, I'm down almost 60 pounds...it's definitely possible for you to do. Just stuck with it. Adjust your cals for what works for you, and weigh and count everything. No geuss-timating, haha.

You might be able to do it but don’t.

Losing a lot in a short time is the easiest way to set the table to regain. Or worse, regain plus.

Set up your program for a moderate calorie deficit. Focus on being able to live within the new limits you set for yourself. Try to get a moderate downward trend that will take you to your goal. Once you get there work to stay there.

Weight loss is a process, embrace the process. Study this board and you see the results of calendar driven weight loss- an endless stream of missed deadlines, blown lines in the sand, and on and off again dieting. There is always something on the horizon. Work on a long term solution and you can lose those pounds once and be done with them.

Your reunion- look your best right then. Get some nice clothes that fit properly. Don’t try to hide in anything baggy. Be who you are. Have fun.

Are you 50 lbs or more overweight? If you are then 2 lbs a week is fine.
If you are not then 2 lbs a week is too aggresive a goal and you should stick to 1 lb a week. Go find a flattering outfit and don't stress about if you lose 8 lbs or 14 by a certain date.

I'm currently less than 7 pounds "over weight" for my height so thinking more about it, that seems a bit too aggressive. I'll stick with the 1lb/week loss goal and hope everyone else gained some college weight too! :D
