By best tip would be to figure out if keto is the best strategy, what it is, and what it isn't.5

Try looking in one of the low carb groups.....I no longer do "named" diets. I just eat smaller portions of food I like, but then I don't have medical issues.

My tip is to make sure you are getting at least 3000 to 5000 mg of sodium a day. (2300 mg sodium = 1 tsp salt.) if you get fatigued, headaches, muscle weakness or nausea, then you need more electrolytes to avoid the keto flu.
Good luck.3 -
Look on youtube for video recipes. Use boullion cubes to help boost sodium.1

There are some great groups on mfp that will support you with the information you need.
If you click on groups and search keto or low carb they should pop up.
Good luck1 -

I am several months into the Ketogenic Lifestyle (due to high A1C and insulin resistance) and love it. But, I am a bit 'off' in that I can eat the same seven or eight things for a long time with no issues at all.
If you are one week into it, I would suggest that you - as already mentioned - ensure that you are getting enough in the way of electrolytes (sodium, magnesium and potassium). When you are changing over from glucose to ketones your body goes a bit nuts. You are also losing a lot of the electrolytes through this process. This leads to a condition called the Keto Flu. It can be rough! I totally by-passed this as I did my research and knew to increase these. Essentially, increase sodium. And, not talking about "table salt". That is - if we all remember our high school chemistry (which for me was some 35 years ago) - actually sodium chloride....four parts sodium, six parts chloride. Get some Pink Himalayan Salt (I use the "Sherpa Pink" and purchase it on Amazon....) and make sure to use it!
Also, make sure that you macro break down is "right". If you are following the so-called Standard Ketogenic Lifestyle then you are likely at 75% of your calories from Fats, 20% from Protein and 5% from Carbs.
What type of Fats are you consuming? What does your meal plan look like?1 -
If you like, I will gladly post a lot of links to some of the guides and whatnot that I use....1
