Bad Place

Hey guys,
I don't normally post on here, but I have found myself in a really bad place lately. I have gained a bit of weight back and have a lot of personal things going on in my life that I just feel horrible about myself and I sit here and look at thinspiration pictures all day and all night. Thinspiration pictures have literally started consuming my waking hours. How do I get away from this and stay healthy?

It takes time. I've been there. Work on getting your mental health back on track and the rest will fall into place. I am 8 lbs heavier today than I was a year ago. I'm working on getting back on track and losing those 8 lbs and more. It took awhile to get my mental back on track but once I did, it all fell into place! Hang in there!!0

Well one, don't be fixated on being skinny. Focus more on being healthy and everything else will follow.
Just like any habit, you have to slowly break yourself from it. Don't fret about it too much, sounds like you worry more about the problem than anything.
You can do it, just make some friends on here and we can all keep you motivated.0 -
Hi Katie! Try not to pressure yourself so much. One thing that is interesting is that your life can go to hell in a lot of different ways that you cannot control, but you CAN control what you eat. That's a great thing! Some people can channel that into actually doing BETTER during stressful times if they really concentrate on giving up using food as comfort and, instead, using it to create something positive in your life. It's difficult, but it's gooooooood.
If that isn't an idea that you like, then remember that your goal of healthy eating and fitness is a path that you follow every day. You can't give up. You can wander off course some days, weeks or months, but you do NOT give up. You make the healthy choices whenever you can, even if it's one healthy choice out of fifty. If you keep logging, even when it is hard to see, you made a healthy choice. If you exercise 15 minutes, even when you ate a case of Twinkies, you did SOMETHING good. It's kind of like going to an ice cream store and ordering a giant hot fudge sundae but ordering a Diet Coke....at least there are a couple of hundred calories and a day's worth of carbs that you did NOT consume! By keeping it positive in this way, you don't wander too far off the path each and every day, so it's MUCH easier to add more frequent and diligent healthy choices!
Don't obsess....but maybe you can use your past experiences and knowledge to help someone else here, despite your own lack of recent compliance. Sometimes just helping others can help you to realize that you CAN do it yourself.
Hope something here can help you! I know you can do it!! You're here and you're asking for help, so that's a GREAT step in the right direction!!!

Please don't be afraid to reach out to parents, friends, teachers, and even professionals. I can't say I've ever dealt with exactly the same thing, but I too have been in pretty bad places psychologically. Your fixation on those photos frightens me and makes me wonder if you are in need of help beyond random strangers on a message board. While everyone certainly means well, sometimes it can take more than a little pep talk to yank someone back from the proverbial edge.
I know that there are others on here with experience dealing with your fixation and maybe they can guide you to more specific help.
I'm glad you reached out here, though. Just admitting needing help is important.0 -
smedlund: Thank you for replying, any tips on getting mental health back on track?
mrphil86: Thank you, I do focus on the problem a little too much, a habit I'll have to break I guess
cownancy: Thank you so much for your kind words, I can see myself coming back to read them often
kaitlinj: The fixation frightens me as well, I have always seen thinspo pictures, but never obsessed over them or wished to look like them the way I am doing now, which is why I am here, asking for help.0
