You don't "need" to exercise to lose weight it benefits your overall health but not necessary just eat at a calorie deficit

I wasn't successful in losing weight (from long term consistency to tracking my food) until my desire to succeed was the most important thing to me. Prior to that, I'd lose a bit, then choose to eat mindlessly and just eat things I felt like whenever I felt like (putting me at maintenance or surplus calories). No one else can work that out for you, or give you motivation.

Luckily, you can lose weight without exercise. It is great for health, so finding anything you enjoy that gets you moving more would be beneficial.

:) Exercise doesn't have to be the gym or running triathlons. I started walking daily in my neighborhood. Now I walk a lot more thanks to technology (audio books on my phone with blue tooth headphones).

Baby steps. Pick one small thing and do that this week. Example 1 - buy a pedometer and make a goal of 1,000 more steps this week, than your usual. Then add another small thing the next week - add a serving of veggies each day (remove something else....perhaps swap out chips at lunch). Keep upping your steps, and making dietary changes each week.

Eating less (calories) is all that's required for weight loss, but we have to find a way of making that consistent. Even after we've lost the weight we need to eat (somewhat less) forever. Weight maintenance is forever.

Moving more (burns more calories) is not required for weight loss, but it's good for our bodies. It doesn't matter what the activity is, just do something.

Agreed with the walks. I started with walks around the neighborhood, then around town, then from my town to the next town.... Kinda sounds like Forest Gump lol... Any ways into hikes, always trying to challenge myself more. Then if weather was bad I did my cardio in the gym, or added the gym on top of the walks and hikes. Start small and work up. I find it takes 3 weeks to create a habit, work at it and get through the 3 weeks.

I struggled with this issue for maybe two years and the weight kept creeping back on. Unfortunately I have no words of wisdom. When my dog died I needed to keep busy so hit the gym and for some reason, once I started working out the eating became easy (well more or less "easy" but not nearly as hard a mental struggle as it had been).

My dietician years ago (when I lost weight the ... second time I think) said start with ONE meal. for example, breakfast. Figure out about how many calories it shoudl be and what a health breakfast should be and start putting that in your MFP journal. Once you hav ea handle of that for a week or two add another meal.

For exercise - you don't HAVE to do any but you can also do baby steps. Park a little farther away. walk around the block once. getting started is the hardest so don't plan for a 30+min block which you never get out to do but for even 5 minutes here or there. build from there.

Sorry Dear but I honestly believe that you need to want to lose weight in order to lose it. I am in the 50 pound club as well and love my walks and finally can actually "peek" at myself in the mirror. I wanted it so bad and that is how I am doing it. I am 50 years old and almost back to my pre-children weight but it does take dedication.
Hope you do well Hun xo

Helps when I crank the classic rock on my phone too

I suggest you change one routine this week that will help you to your goal.

You know what you can eat so keep doing that. Weigh and log your meals and find out how many calories are in your meals. Adjust as necessary.

I am the same age as you and exercise has done the most to help me feel energized and strong. The mistake I made for the longest time was thinking I had to do weight loss exercises, many of which I found deadly boring. Everything changed when I started trying out anything that came along. Eventually I found activities I really enjoyed. Now those I can do for life.

Are you introverted/extroverted? Prefer team, group, or individual sports? Are you coordinated?
