About two months into determination to shed some weight. But my little girl (10) made me lemon meringue pie for my birthday -- seein' that face I just couldn't NOT eat it. 1) not all calories are bad, and 2) I don't need to eat the whole thing.

and 3) the special memory you and your daughter will always share of the lemon pie she made you when she was 10 years old will easily outweigh any slight short term delay in your weight loss.
Happy birthday!6 -
There are no calories on your birthday.

It was your birthday, we are all allowed a day of weakness every once and a while! Lemon meringue pie is delicious.
"Pie is much better than cake for a birthday treat. The only reason people choose cake is because they can write on it, a pie will win every time." (Paraphrased from Adam Carolla)
However..... when you want a second piece or a third piece of pie remember:
(A few weeks ago I was going to have a small piece of LMP, then I saw that when I entered it into my log.)
Just tell your daughter that you love her and the piece you ate was great but daddy is trying to eat better and healthier.1 -
I just read this, https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10213155/a-guide-to-going-out-to-eat/p1
This part is important.1. Don’t worry about counting your calories.
• One day of poor logging will not hurt you in the long run. Dust yourself off after your meal, and get back to your calorie counting. As long as this is not a habit of not logging, it shouldn't hurt your overall deficit.0 -
Edwards is only a little over half as much as the entry shown above:

So it is hard to say how much it was. I love LMP and KLP enough to make the numbers work every now and then.0 -
We have a shop - way too close to my house, called Buttermilk Sky Pie. I fit in pie from there at least once every week or two. They have mini 4 inch pies that are Ah-Mah-Zing. Key Lime is available now for summer. They don't have nutritional info posted, so I log it as Edwards version of KLP, as it's pretty close serving size to those. I may be way off, but I'm still losing at the expected rate, so I'm not going to obsess. LOL1

All things in moderation, that's the key, NOT deprivation.0

Personally, I wouldn't call it "weakness" to choose to have a special treat a child baked just for me.6
