Losing for aesthetics (provided you're still in a healthy weight range) is a completely legitimate reason. My weight range as an adult as been anywhere between 159 lbs and 186 lbs, at 6'1" that all falls under the "normal" BMI umbrella. However, I know what 186 looked like (last August) despite being in the "healthy range", in truth, it was kinda fat. The 159 lbs I hit just before my wedding in 2013 was before I started lifting. I'd guess that was equal to or less than my current body fat level and also in the "healthy range" but compared to how I'd like to ultimately look or even how I look today at 172, it was scrawny.

However, you may ultimately find that a number on the scale doesn't necessarily equate to the physique you have in mind, I know that was the case for me led me to start properly educating myself on how to work towards the physique I desired/admired in 2015 and I'm much happier for it.

I’m 6’ and at 160 am not out of my healthy range. I’m working on losing weight because I’m above the where I personally think that I look and feel my best.

There’s nothing wrong with lowering weight just to feel better about how you look in clothes. Assuming you’re doing it in a healthy manner, it’s completely legitimate.

To play devil's advocate, can you provide details pertaining to your current stats (age/height/weight), how much weight you want to lose, and what methods you're using to do so? You can be trying to lose weight with the best of intentions but if your methods are less-than-ideal your friends may also be correct in their concern.
