Apple Watch steps don’t work with pushchair?

Hi all,
My hubby let me borrow his Apple Watch before I buy my own. I usually take 15-20k steps per day according to the health app on my iPhone.
The Apple Watch is recording maybe 40% less than my iPhone would and I’m wondering if this is because it’s on my wrist (obviously) and I’m pushing a pushchair... my arms barely move I guess. I’ve got the pushchair with me for maybe 50% of my daily steps so I figure the watch won’t be of much use to me if this the case.
When I use my iphone, it is either in my hand, in my pocket or in a wallet/handbag that is on my person.
I appreciate any help!

I push my stroller with one hand, so it tracks my steps. I also push a shopping cart with one hand, so it counts my steps. I know when I had a Fitbit I would put it on my shoes when I went out with the baby, but that’s not an option with the Apple Watch, so I do the one handed thing.0

You can get a FitBit that can either go in your pocket or clip on you somewhere. I wear a FitBit watch and when I push grocery carts and what not just try to make an effort to do so one handed but know that I'm still losing some of my steps.0

Turn on the GPS feature, that will estimate steps even when your arms aren't moving. I take my neices and nephews a few times a week and use that when I walk with them as two are in a stroller.1
