This is a good question for the Getting Started and Food Nutrition threads. You will get feedback that it comes down to burning more calories than you take in, and macros more or less comes down to being satiated.

@rosemaryabj89 I am moving this to getting started so you get more answers.

Personally, I agree with what was said above though.

A good healthy starting point is 40/30/30, carbs protein and fat.

https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html this calculator seem to be a bit more accurate for me in determining my calorie needs.

    Best of luck

Losing weight depends totally on calories. However getting enough protein is important to spare muscle (along with strength training) as you lose. Many folks here view the MFP default protein, fat, and fiber goals as minimums to be exceeded, and let carbs fall where they may. Whether or not you do lower or higher carbs is personal preference.

I don't track my macro at all. I have no idea how much protein or fat or percentages I'm eating is. I'm just mindful that I eat some protein every day. Everything else, I practically ignore. Calories is all I focus on.

There is no specific way to set your Macros, it's all about creating a calorie deficit.

Studies suggest that protein set at between 0.5g - 0.8g / 1lb of body weight is optimal.

Outside of that eat fats/carbs in whatever ratio best suits your taste buds.
