Hi, as far as I know the food database is not localised to where we live. Many of the entries are community based and may not be correct for you.
What I have found is if I use the phone app and scan the barcode the item will be correctly displayed. It is still worth checking the values against the label though - Just few to make sure it is correct. I do most of my shopping at Tesco and every label I've scanned has come up.

Just plug the name of your supermarket before your food - eg I have just had a Tesco kipper fillet so put that in. American suppliers always come up first but ours are there. The more entries you log the quicker you will build up a good recent food list. Another good hint is, if you have a number of routine meals click on the save meal button. Next time you eat that meal it will appear in My Meals - makes daily logging much quicker. If the quantities have varied it is then quick to change them in the diary.
Good Luck.
