Want to get back in the game!

Wow! It's been a LONG time since I've worked out, watched what I ate and had an everyday excercise routine. Back in the early/mid 90's I used to be a weightlifter and a shotput and discus thrower that held school and state records. Today, you would never even think I could make it a lap around the track.
I've been married now for 21 years to my best friend, and together we have 3 awesome children. One who just graduated from High School and my youngest child has special needs. I guess I didn't realize how much I let "me" go over the years until I saw some pictures recently from my son's graduation and I thought to myself, "Wow. Is that really me?"
So, I've decided I have to do something. I've been talking to one of my co-workers and he suggested myfitnesspal. He said that it will help keep you accountable as it has been a great tool for him. So, I've joined. I'm having a hard time getting the map my walk app to link to myfitness pal, so my walks are not registering. I think I'm going to reload the app and try again, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to buy a new fitbit. I can't find the one I had purchased a few years ago.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a type of fitbit that is better than others? Also, I'm in need of recipes to cook for families. I'm needing to find things that will work for a family of 5. If I'm doing this, we all are! I'm not going to cook special dishes for everyone!
I've got high BP, and I have sleep apnea. I'm hoping that losing the weight (on my own) will help get me away from the medications and the cpap machine. I just want to be healthier again and be pain free in my joints.
I'm looking for people to help build me up, not beat me down. I'm know I'm "fluffy" but there is a skinnier, healthier version of me that is trapped inside all that "fluff" that wants to step out! I want to help her and make that happen!
Here's to new beginnings and to stepping off the sidelines and to getting back in the game!

Congrats on joining!!! Sounds like you are so ready. Maybe for now you could download Google Fit and track your steps that way just until you get a fitbit? I sold mine in order to buy a new one and it's working well syncing up in the meantime!
Good luck !0
