Radishes and hunger

That's so odd. I'm a carb fan yet find it difficult to find low calorie inbetween meal food that actually fills me up. Apples don't work. Paprika and cucumber: kind of. When I was hungry and had nothing else in the house I started nibbling on radishes, and the hunger just went away. 100g. of radishes have a lot less calories than most of my go-by stuff, yet it works so much better. Any idea why that might be?

I find that foods with some heat to them fill me up better, so maybe that's true of radishes too? I should try it, as I'm a little tired of cucumber which is my go-to between meal food.1

They're spicy and have all that fiber, a little goes a long way.0

Have you tried instant oats packet with protein powder (or powdered peanut butter for less calories)? That always fills me up. Heck even something like a 2 calories pickle helps me for whatever reason.0

Nah, I'm not into oats. A good artisan bread keeps me full, oats don't. Plus too much protein and dairy cause reflux. And I just love my bread and would not want to exchange it for something mushy to be honest.0 -

Yes, that's what I'm wondering. I did stock up on radishes today, so lets see how next work week goes0 -

Quite possible. I didn't think of that to be honest. But yes, those radishes are rather spicy. Or maybe because I eat them slower, simply because they are spicy? Hmm.. should try carrots.

I'll put them in a stew as a potato substitute, they loose their heat and the color in the skin fades so they're basically indistinguishable and no one has ever noticed.1

Wow, how big are your radiahes? 😮
Sounds like fun. I mostly use them in Asian rice dishes.0 -

Lol, we'll you don't generally put whole potatoes in a stew either. They're about the size of red potatoes anyway so I just split them in half.0 -
No idea how big a red potato is, but mine are about the size of cherry tomatoes or smaller.0

I LOVE RADISHES! I find the same thing, they are very filling. I even add some hot sauce to give them an extra kick.1

Wow, I just eat them raw and basically nibble on them.0
