Eating Disorder

Hi,
So in 7th grade I used to suffer from disorderly eating and starving myself and only living off of fruit. Eventually I saw a counselor and felt a lot better but I'm currently not seeing one and my family always tries to control my life and tell me what to eat, which university to go to, what to wear, etc. I'm tired of people trying to control my life so I control my calories and I'm super concious about my weight. I've been keeping it under 1000 calories but I'm always too sleepy to work out. I'm just really scared of being overweight. Please send me encouragement and tips to block out their negativity.

It's good that you understand the cause of why you control your weight so much! That's step one in being healthy. Weight is super dangerous to control so strictly at that age though (assuming you're a teenager) and there's healthier outlets for that. You just have to look around. Personally, I change my hair colour a lot and that helps, and though maybe your parents won't allow that, there are many options out there.
I don't know what your current weight is but generally speaking if you eat balanced meals, you will not end up overweight. Eating under 1000 calories is pretty dangerous and might actually be the reasons why you're too sleepy to work out at all.
Maybe you should ask if you can see a counselor again before you do serious harm to yourself.1 -
Talk to your parents about setting up an appointment with your treatment team again1

I don’t know how old you are, but I was a closet bulimic when I was younger. I’m 31 now, and my family never knew. I stress ate, and couldn’t stand the feeling of overeating, so I’d purge some of it up. I have so many regrets about not treating my body right. I messed up my hormones and my adrenal glands are now failing because of the lack of cortisol production my body produces. I’m a ticking time bomb to eventually have to start steroids. That’s enough motivation for me to eat right and to eat enough. Eventually, when I do start the steroids because my adrenal glands quit on me, I’m going to retain water weight and feel fat anyway, that fat feeling I won’t be able to control, like you think you’re controlling your body now. Take care of your body now, so that you don’t have have to pay for it later! I hope you get the help you need1
