                    Hello!
My daily calorie intake is at 1340/day. I exercise moderately- usually a little something every day: swimming/jogging/yoga. In the last couple of days, I've been eating below my calorie intake in the range of 300-500 calories. Is that terrible? My goal is to lose weight. Pls help!!

if you are consistently eating below your goal in take (and 1340 is already on the lower side of calorie intake) and assuming you aren't eating back exercise calories (as tat is the way that MFP is designed) - then yes, there is potential for harmful effects in the long-term3

Eating below the calorie intake could put your body into starvation mode. That is dangerous and could potentially make you gain even more. Try eating all your calories and going to the gym, I think you'll be surprised with the weightloss.9

It will not put someone's body in starvation more or cause them to gain weight, but it will cause all sorts of health problems like muscle loss, hair loss, fatigue, brittle nails, etc. Long-term can cause damage to organs and possibly the metabolism.2

By all means. Doctors are actually woefully uninformed on nutrition on average. Adaptive thermogenesis is a thing but you'd have to be anorexic by that point, and I don't suspect OP is at that point.6
