getting nowhere

I started this journey about four weeks ago. I lost 5.5 lbs. the first week. I have lost about 1/2 lb every week since then. I have been under my calorie goal every time but one. I exercise and when I add that to my exercise journal it tells me how many calories I burned. My question is, do I have to eat the overall calories that I get with my exercise, or do I just eat the 1200 calories that is my goal for the day? I understand that by not eating enough calories I can put my body in starvation mode, but I am about 60 pounds overweight, so wouldn't I lose early in the program, and later on stop losing because of not getting enough calories.

If you're worried about it, eat 1/2 of them back and see what happens. I eat sometimes 1/2 sometimes all, and my weight loss has been steady. You're not going to lose 60 lbs over night and trying to speed up the process can really hurt you. Remember, if you're really working out, then you are gaining muscle as well as losing weight, and the muscle will help to speed up your metabolism, but also, will make you lose inches. The weight is only part of it. Keep going, you're doing great, and see if you don't start dropping more by eating a little more. It's weird, but true.0
