Today is my first day with MFP and I'm working really hard at reducing my daily calories, but OMG I'm still hungry!! Today I've eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner and only have 170 calories remaining but I feel like I'm starving!! Normally at this point I'd reach for a snack, but I want to stay at my goal!! (I'm a terrible snacker so I'm thinking that's where most of my daily calories come from)
Anyone have have any advice for a starving girl??

It's hard to give advice since your diary isn't open and we can't see what kinds of foods you have eaten today. But I would say have some veggies or fruit as a snack. They are low in calories and good for you!0

Apple? Carrot? String cheese?
Actually your best bet is probably a big glass of water.0 -
i would just eat lol0
-
Could always excersize and eat back those calories? Or try some more filling foods0
-
I say go for a walk so you can eat some more!0

Oh, how do I make my diary open??0

my first couple days were really rough. I was starving! But after the first few days, I got used to it, and found it easier to not eat and to stay within my calorie goal.0

Eat as many raw veggies as you like... Take some fiber pills and drink a TON of water. Make sure you are keeping your carbs down so as not to kick off the cravings.0

Click on settings in the upper right corner of the screen, then diary. You can change the setting there.0

How many calories are you eating? How much do you weight or want to lose? There isn't a lot of info here for us to work with.....I think you can go to your profile and change your settings to make your diary open....0

Re-evaluate your goals... You don't have much weight you want to lose, so you shouldn't try to lose any more than a pound a week. A half pound a week would be better, which is only 250 calories less than what it takes to maintain your weight. The slower you lose it, the easier all this will be, the more likely you'll stick with it, and the more likely you'll be to keep the weight off for good.
Keep in mind that you don't need to DRASTICALLY change your lifestyle. Just a tiny tweak.
I'm not a big fan of being hungry. Ever. And I'm not. Ever. And my progress has been fantastic!0 -
Made it public!! Maybe it'll work now.
I think one of my problems might be water... I'm not much of a drinker... I bet if I chugged some H2O it would prob help to a certain degree0 -
I would definitely look at where you're spending your calories. 12 tbsp cramer and a cookie could have ' bought' you much more filling food instead.0

It took me a few weeks to keep from going over my calories. You need to let your body and mind get used to eating less food, don't beat yourself up if you can't stick to your goal right away.
If you want lots of food and little calories, eat more fresh veggies!
Check out my diary if you need any ideas, I stick to the 1200 goal and fill myself up daily.0 -
Did you have 12 Table spoons of coffee creamer? If not then you need to redo that and that will give more calories to eat.0
-
Start buying some baby carrots. At first, you may not think they taste great, but they ARE very filling, and in time, believe or not, you'll come to crave them! Good luck, and glad you joined MFP!0
-
Did you really have twelve tablespoons of creamer in your coffee?! Not judging, LOL, just thinking that might be a mistake that would free up some calories for you.0
-
did you really have 12 tbsps of coffee creamer for 1.5 cups of coffee?!?!?!?!!? that's where almost a third of your calories went... no wonder you're hungry....
cut back on that, or use something completely different... it'll open up alot of calories...0 -
oh dang, that can't be right!!0

It's easier if you plan your nutritional day in advance. That's how I use MFP. I know the day's results in advance. Have the foods you like, which fit your plan, in your refrigerator. If you open your refrigerator to see what's there, your diet plan for the day is already shot. Use the nutritional information, as well as the calorie counter, as a means of educating yourself to what's good and bad. Don't be discouraged if you fail for a day, just start again.0

btw I am hungry too at this moment, but I too am trying to stay within my calories, and hoping to see some change in the scale soon. This would be what I would do, either reach for a low cal soup like a hearty chicken noodle vegetable, some only have 90 cals, or I would brush my teeth and go to bed, I seem to lose more weight when I get to bed early than when I stay up late! Imagine how happy you will be with yourself in the morning if you stick with it tonight, plus well rested! you can do it!0

WATER! sometimes your body confuses hunger with boredom. drink a whole bottle of water and then decide if you need to eat or not. It's not going to ruin anything if you go over your calories every once in awhile0

OBIVOUSLY I'm a moron and can't enter my data correctly. Just fixed that creamer thing and it freed up a bunch of calories!! lol0
-
12 tablespoons = 6 oz. That's a LOT of creamer for 8 oz of coffee. Also, even if you have 170 calories left over, you should have zero calories left over, so go ahead and find yourself a snack that's about 150 calories or so. MFP already figures in a deficit for losing weight, so you are supposed to eat exactly the number of calories it tells you to eat, you don't have to stop short.0

Home>settings>6th one down... diary settings0

It is so easy to mess up on the diary. Glad that it was a mistake and now look at all those calories left.0
-
I am glad that you fixed your creamer and found some calories but . . . I'd highly recommend EATING your calories rather than drinking them. That will help as well. Maybe you could have skim milk in your coffee instead?0

oh wow... I just looked at your diary. I would be hungry too! Eat some raw veggies or fruit. Water will help, but seriously you need to leave the hamburger helper and the frozen dinners at the grocery store. For lunch a salad with grilled chicken or tuna tossed in would be much tastier and healthier than the weight watchers stuff you had. Try eating fruit, raw veggies, or some nuts as snacks between meals. I'm guilty of buying processed food sometimes... tonight I served processed chicken breast strips but I had healthy veggies on the side. I am learning to eat healthier with the help of my friends here on MFP. That's what we are here for, right? Eating healthy is important and you have to be able to continue to eat like this even after you lose the weight. You can do Crystal Light, Tea, or add fruit to your water if that helps. I love strawberries and orange slices or lemon and lime slices in my water. Try different things.0
