Type of food matters - for satiety

I'm a bread addict. My breakfast always consists of two slices of good bread, and three more later in the day.

Today I tried something else: I had a big pack of oats left from making cookies. So I made a bowl of oats with skyr, fruit and a few rasins. Same amount of calories as my two slices of bread. Not much different: just two grams less protein and fat. I ate half an hour ago, and I'm hungry again. Ugh. This will be a tough day methinks :s

Funny how that works, right? I'm not low carb at all, but the macro combination in a quest bar is perfect for taking me from breakfast to lunch, with maybe a small carby snack if I'm particularly active. :)

Yes, it's so odd! I guess the density of the food also plays a massive role, plus the amount of sugar, salt and other things. And probably also how much you like your food. I really missed my breakfast bread today. Guess that means I'll leave the oats in the cupboard and have my usual breakfast again tomorrow.

Protein and fats help me feel satisfied but not every protein or fat does it for me. Some people can eat eggs and get full but I never do unless I have those eggs with toast or potatoes.

It's individual. Your oat/skyr concoction would hold me way longer than bread, which doesn't satisfy me at all. :)

I agree - varies from person to person. For me, I have to have eggs/meat/cheese protein or I starve all day. Sometimes walnuts in my hot cereal works.

Bread, oatmeal, greek yogurt, nuts, veggies, and snack foods like chips dont fill me up at all.

Potatoes, eggs, chicken, beef, rice and beans fill me up.

Yet a bowl of oats with a banana and greek yoghurt will keep me full for hours and a couple of slices of toast would have me hungry in no time at all. It is amazing how different we all are.

It's so odd. Meat or eggs doesn't satisfy me on their own unless there is bread, potatoes, or rice. Oatmeal satisfies me, but it has to be with milk for it to work. White rice satisfies me better than barley, so when I want barley I have to make room for more food. Vegetables don't satisfy me on their own, but when they're part of a meal the meal is more satisfying. A single serving of ice cream is 1000% more satisfying than a single serving of nuts or yogurt. Yogurt is most satisfying when it's paired with a grain.

It's odd, isn't it? Though just a boring toast with jam will not keep me full (neither happy) even though it probably has more calories than a slice of bread with ham.

Foods make a large difference for me. It's a deal breaker, really. There are just some foods that I cannot eat and keep to a good caloric level, and if I do stay at a deficit, I feel hunger, weakness and find myself thinking about food way too much.

Experimenting at the moment, as my dinner went a bit wrong. I cooked a Scottish leek and tattie soup with Dutch smoked sausage. The calories for three portions were fat too low, the amount of soup for just two too much. I didn't want to put more veggies in it and ran out of sausages (you can't get them in the UK). So I added lots of butter, and now ended up with a soup fairly low in protein, and equal amounts of calories in carbs and fat. I usually eat fairly low fat,bit more protein, and a lot more carbs. So lets see how that works. The soup is utterly delicious though <3

I think if you will go for balanced diet it will be more satisfying than thi leti diets! Just have protein on the higher side in each meal preparation! And yes portion control is very important!
