Hi, my name is Kim. I am 47 years old and I have type 2 diabetes. I recently started the KETO DIET and is doing well on it. My A1C dropped from 7.7 to 6.6. My goal is to be diabete free and not rely on medication. Today, I had to start over on my journey to losing weight. The KETO DIET is a diet that is very challenging. It's mostly cutting out sugars and carbs. Which is the hardest thing for me. But I know I can do it, it just takes a little discipline. They say the first 2 weeks is the hardest which I have experienced just need to get on track. Losing weight is the most hardest thing especially after your 40's, but anything is can be done if you put your mind to it. Through the journey we all might fall off the wagon, but falling off means getting back on and that's what I'm doing today. Need to get on my KETO DIET. Remember, losing weight is a life changing style. Meaning... we have to change the way we eat for the rest of our lives. Doing a diet for 3 months and going back to how we eat isn't going to help us. It's a challenge, but if we want to feel healthy and feel good about ourselves, change the way we eat. HAPPY JOURNEY...

I joined back today too! My ex husband got me introduced to Keto and it's been a real game changer I think!

All you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit.
If keto is not naturally how you eat, then you will not be successful. Just as you stated, you have to eat that way the rest of your life. (no more bread, pasta, cake, ever?)
Maybe try just counting calories before you try something so extreme that you fall off the wagon after two weeks...5 -
I joined back up yesterday. I am doing a diabetes prevention program paid for through my insurance so my eating habits need to change. My A1C is 5.7%. The plan has food protocols to reset your digestive system. I am on level one (started yesterday as well) and have a list of foods I can eat (low inflammatory, easily digested). They don't have us counting calories as we are focusing on the quality of food, not quantity. I joined back up because I need a comprehensive way to look at my food diary (theirs on their app doesn't cut it for me). I also wanted to use the recipe builder to get the nutritional information on any recipes I try.0

Keto is the new fad diet in town. I think people just love to say the word Keto....
Don't give in to the new fad/trend diet. At the end of the day, for Keto to be successful, you will need to be eating in a calorie deficit.
Eat the way you have always eaten, but track your food and reduce portion sizes to stay under your goal
You don't have to give up the foods you love to lose weight!3 -
