Hi All,
So im doing my best to get up to 2 km jogging on the treadmill but I keep running into the same problem, I keep loosing sensation in my feet.
I have been stretching before using 2 methods, (1) Calf stretch against wall (2) seated calf stretch.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend ways to prevent this as although my body feels like it can do more by legs wont allow me.
thanks in advance for any tips
Lynda

are you wearing the correct running shoes for treadmill running? this is a major impact and if you are not you can cause some serious damage.
I suggest investing in a decent pair of running trainers designed for the treadmill and see if you notice any difference.0 -
is it almost a pins and needles sensation, if so sounds like lack of circulation, to help blood pump more easily round you body get some good cholestrol inside you, eggs are a good source0

Are your front calf muscles tense? Stretching the front muscles, too, and not just the calf stercht agaings wall could get it better. At least it did for me. My foot felt like I was having a drop foot and I got the pins and needles sensation as mentioned above, too. It was simply because my front calf muscles were to tense and short.0

Go to a dedicated runner's store because you need a proper fit for running shoes. Also on MFP, make sure that your sodium intake is under. Best of luck.0

Hi there,
I suffer from this a lot and when I consulted my doctor he suggested:
-Taking Ibufrofen
-Eat more bananas
-Drink tonic water (the quinnine helps)
-Quinnine Tablets
-Stretching
New trainers with high impact soles and heels.
Its frustrating as I feel I can do so much more but my calf muscles at the back just seize up!
Let me know if any of the above work - they have helped me !0 -
Are you warming up before you stretch? Sounds like you are doing static stretching, these are the stretches you want to do AFTER (plus you don't want to stretch cold muscles as this could lead to injury) Do some active stretches like calf raises before your workout. But might be bad circulation, I get it sometimes when I'm on the cross-trainer and I tend to ignore it or do another activity lol.0
