Planks?!

Can someone please give me some advice on Planks?!

I started doing these in Bodypump class and have since read that they are really good for your tummy area.

How long are you supposed to hold them for? Or is it just as long as you can?

Any help would be great!

    Yes hold it for as long as you can. It is an awesome tummy exercise! When I started, I could only do about 25 seconds, now I can do almost 2 minutes!

    My trainer has me do three reps when doing planks to build up the muscles. Each rep for the same amount of time (whatever you can do!) with about 20 seconds break between. The first one is hard, the second one killer and by the third one I have to scream to keep in plank position!!! That said, I find I can do them for longer and longer each week. They are excellent to train your core abdominal muscles. Keep it up!!

    when i first started doing them i held it for 10 seconds (which killed me at first!!), and did it 3 or 4 times a week, then upped it by 5 seconds each week to 1 minute.
