I offended my PT - help!

Long story short, I let a friend who is NOT training with anyone be the little devil on my shoulder and convince me that my trainer is not doing her job correctly. When she asked me the other day what we had done in training this past week, that was enough to convince me that she didn't have a plan for me and wasn't documenting my workouts as precisely as one would expect. I sent her a message and said that I was concerned by that (it was a much longer message than that) and she replied that she did indeed have a plan for me and have my workouts planned prior to our sessions, but that she had modified this week at the last minute because I was getting over a sickness. Well of course that makes all the sense in the world, and now I feel horrible for making assumptions and suggesting that she wasn't doing her job. I replied with an apology for making said assumptions and thanked her for the time and effort she has spent with me so far, but I still feel awful.
Trainers, has a similar situation ever happened to you? What can I do? Is there even anything besides continuing to show up and follow the program she's set for me? (We only meet once per week but I have workouts for the days I don't see her.)
Anyone else have any advice? (Although after listening to my friend and letting that seemingly ruin the good relationship I had with my trainer, maybe I shouldn't even ask.)

You're a paying customer. You have every right to question the service. Think nothing of it and move on.13

I agree with the above.. you are a paying customer.. but if your message was unkind or strongly worded.. you need to apologize for that...but you do have the right to ask questions of the service for which you are paying.5

You've apologised. Move on. Be polite and committed going forward and enjoy.
The bigger deal you make of it, the more of a deal your PT will think of it. Remember, you are only one of many clients. Your PT has probably spent...ooh...about 5 minutes worrying about this (if at all), which I daresay is a lot shorter time than you have.
Good luck.5 -

Valid. I think this experience will lead me to be more proactive with asking questions before I allow them to become issues that actually don't exist.2 -

Ha. That's a great point. I'm definitely an overthinker but I will do my best to just show up and work.2 -
You did not offend your trainer. You had a concern and voiced it, that's called "feedback". Any professional who doesn't accept that, isn't very professional.

my brother is a PT and he hears stuff like that from time to time, although he is thorough with his clients, he accepts it as constructive criticism and moves forward. i think you've probably done enough. i wouldn't mention it again.1

Unless you were ruder than you posted here I don't see anything offensive in expressing concern and receiving clarification. Your PT response does not seem offended to me.
The matter is done with and settled. I'd view it as positive that you communicated with each other and know there is a plan going foward and the PT got to explain without you just getting mad and firing her.
You are overthinking the matter. Do you generally have anxiety about communicating your thoughts and feelings to others?2 -
Trainers hear all kinds of things from all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons. Just move on and kept working hard.2

I'm sure it will be fine, I just overthink things. I don't plan to mention it again. The matter is done with and settled. I'd view it as positive that you communicated with each other and know there is a plan going foward and the PT got to explain without you just getting mad and firing her.

I viewed it as positive as well. At least she knows that if I have a concern, I will take it to her rather than escalating it.
And yes is probably the easiest answer to your question. I always have. Why, are you a therapist? HahaTrainers hear all kinds of things from all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons. Just move on and kept working hard.
That is my goal.1 -
You've apologised, all is good. If you're now happy and confident with your trainer I wouldn't say anything more about it and just move forwards.
You have a right to question something if you have concerns. As a trainer myself I'd rather someone ask me, and we can address the concerns, rather than them say nothing and have it in the back of their mind. No decent trainer is going to get offended by that sort of thing.0
