Energy gels/drinks

Inspired by the hydration topic....can anyone recommend any energy products that don't cause stomach upsets? The ones I have tried are all either completely disgusting or make me ill, or both.
I love the idea of energy beans, but I can only find mixed flavour packs, and I am allergic to citrus, so the idea of sorting through the packet mid-race looking for the ones that won't kill me doesn't appeal.
I use nuun active hydration tabs, which are sugar free so no good for energy, but they are the only ones I have found that don't make me ill.

Have you tried Gu? That's what I use when mountain biking. It's nasty but works and doesn't upset my stomach.0

I have Accelerate on order from Amazon, all of the reviews said the taste was good for most of the flavors.0

hmm not sure but i used to use 5 hr energy, except every time i took one it was like taking a shot of vodka- DISGUSTING. now i used jack3d, its powder and sooo much cheaper , you can add as much or little as you want to water (within the GUIDELINES.) i only use one tiny scoop, if your stomach is sensitive id use 1/4 at first to see, then 1/2, etc.
other than that, nt sure... never tried the beans or anything. when i worked in the city i used to go to the gym right after work, so id eat an energy bar on the bus... you can try that! i drank coffee with it too though lol0 -

Which one do you recommend as the least disgusting?0 -
All the products do the same thing, so it all comes down to personal preference. Flavors, texture, thickness, sweetness - try a bunch and figure out what you like.
Just like running shoes, it doesn't what fits another person's feet. All that matters is what fits YOUR feet.0 -
I have a strong stomach, so I do not know if it causes upset stomach for people who are more delicate, but I love using Clif Shot Bloks (they come in a single flavor, so you can choose a non-citrus one; I like the strawberry) and also PowerBar Energy Blasts. Some flavors also come with caffeine added, which give you the kick you need in the last portion of a long run.0

The orange but you said you were allergic to citrus. Maybe the vanilla. The chocolate is really bad.0 -

I don't like chocolate much at the best of times. I'll try the vanilla.0 -

I don't have energy drinks, the nuun tabs I put in my water bottle are sugar free, sweetener free salts to aid hydration and replenish what I lose through sweating. Some of them contain a tiny amount of caffeine, but I prefer the ones that don't. No taurine in sight! I have tea throughout the day anyway, so I am getting caffeine from that. I don't have any desire to give up caffeine.0
