Okay, moral question for ya'll just to see what you would do??

Walking along a path and find a bag with a large sum of money it, for the point of this question, we will say $25,000.00, what would you do? Would you turn it over to the authorities? Would you run as fast as you could with the bag and stash it somewhere? What would you do?

Honestly with that amount of money I would turn it in.
Not going to pretend to be some super honest person, just the reality of how much trouble simply taking it could lead to.

Hmmm big dilemma...I suppose I would be tempted for 5 minutes with lots of things that I could do with it...but would have to go hand it over to the authorities cos I couldn`t live with myself otherwise...sad but true ;-)

Turn it in. I'm just that kinda gal.
It would be a difficult choice, mind you...I AM human. But, I would always know it wasn't mine.
And that would always bug me.
Plus, I already have a laundry list of stuff God's gonna get me for. I don't need to be adding to it! ;)

Grab it.... hope like hell it's not drug money or some kidnapping payoff gone wrong that I just screwed up by picking it up and walking away with it. I would keep it!!!! I wouldn't spend it just sit on it for a while and wait and watch. If it showed up on one of the local news media's that a large sum was lost then I would turn it over. Let's face it.... if it was turned over and not claimed then the cops would just enjoy and they get enough of my taxes and a large portion of the city budget so I'm not contributing anymore than I have to. Did I mention I work for the city and with a few police officers. So I know how the money portion works : )

I would turn it in.... Not because I wouldn't *want* to keep it. But because I'd be so paranoid that I'd get caught with it. I fear the man. *hangs head in shame* I'm such a goodie goodie..........

The stray $20, of course we wouldn't turn in.

But $25,000? It would be LEGALLY crazy not to.

    It could belong to:

    1. A drug dealer
    2. Part of a robbery -- marked bills
    3. The entire life savings of a retiree
    4. Tied to some other crime, embezzlement, prostitution, government employee gone bad.

    Each has different implications.
Most every jurisdiction has finder's keeper's laws, you receipt it over to the authorities, if it's not claimed, within a certain period of time, then it's yours. Exact rules will vary. But if you try to spend "marked bills"...YOU may be implicated in the crime...with little proof. (Oh, Mr DA, I FOUND it...)

There is ways to spend marked bills and not get caught, simple money laundering can be done at casinos and the such, by putting the bills in a machine, and cashing back out, just saying.

I don't think I could keep it, as tempting as it may be it would just not feel right.
