Weekend eating!

Hi everyone! I love to hear your tips on how to stay on track during weekends. I count calories during the week & then the weekend comes along and it undoes all my great work

Do you count on the weekends too? What are you're stats (Age, weight, height, calorie goal, loss per week goal) I have some ideas kicking around, but knowing your current stats would be helpful to give you the best advice.

I’m 38 years old. 163cm, 78.8kgs, sedentary. I’ve set my calories at 1700 as I’m breastfeeding. I started mfp about 3 weeks ago & I’ve lost 3.6kgs. I just find gaining weight so easy... a Saturday of relaxing meant I gained over a kilo. It’s probably sodium, but it’s taken me a couple of days to get back on track. I’d like to lose 10kgs & get to 68kgs roughly a bmi of 25

Yes..It sounds like sodium. I do as rosebarnalice but maybe just taking your little one out for a walk daily might be your answer?

    Look at your weekly goal.

Gaining water weight is not a problem, just don't weigh your self on a Monday!

I save some calories and/or increase my exercise on the weekends to accommodate the potential extra calorie intake. Even going for a walk helps - it burns calories and puts me in the right mindset so I don't over indulge.

As others have mentioned, look at your calories as a weekly budget. If you save up for the week, and are a bit under goal, that leaves you with more wiggle room come the weekend. I also allow myself an occasional "maintenance day" to give myself room for going out to eat and the like. As long as your weekly total is under goal you're good.

Try not to let the water weight get to you! It took me a whole week to shake off the 3lbs I "gained" from Vacation. And, I still haven't seen the new low I spotted 2 weeks ago. Boo. So it happens to all of us. If you like to weigh daily, but get a bit wigged out by fluctuations, try a weight trending app. Happy Scale and Libra are good ones. They tell you if you're trending up or trending down, and gives you an average weight amid all of the fluctuations. If weighing daily gets to you, weigh once a week, like Thursday or something, before the weekend indulgences hit.

Some other things that work with me to stay on track, is to make sure I have treats (that fit my calories) throughout the week as well. It helps me not go overboard on the weekends since I got most of my cravings off my mind throughout the week.

Try eating at maintenance during weekends; you will be able to eat more but will not undo your efforts.

my entire weight loss journey, I've eaten one meal out with cocktails and I've lost all my weight. But I never pigged out or ate bad all day long. It worked for me... you could try it..cause it is pretty great.. keeps you sane.
