Apple Watch Tracking

Hi all! So I wear my Apple Watch religiously to track my exercise/move goals, etc. I have MFP on my iPhone, but it’s sluggish and needs replacing, so I do all my MFPstuff on my iPad. Unfortunately it appears my Apple Watch isn’t syncing with MFP :( Any idea how to get it to sync? I’m about to start an exercise routine, and I’d really like this app to log all the good info my health app on my phone is able to share. Ty.

I just got my apple watch and am not seeing a way to have the two linked together like I had with my fitbit

First, launch the MyFitnessPal app on your Apple Watch. This will register your Apple Watch with the MyFitnessPal app on iPhone.

Second, launch the MyFitnessPal iPhone app, and visit More > Steps. Select “Apple Watch” as your step source. This choice will use data from both the Apple Watch and the M7/M8 chip in the iPhone through HealthKit to track your steps.

Ok, had to erase my watch data, update the sooftware, and now I’m waiting for that to finish so I can re-pair the watch to my phone. Will be nice seeing all of the info in one place! And the watch adds a lot of “ease of use” functionality...I’ll update with how it goes! I think having all of my calories burned appear on my public journal will be a huge motivator for me to get off my couch! Ty for the help!

Still can’t get anything to show up on the watch. I did all of the steps and MFP opens on my watch with all of my calorie stuff, place to add meals, etc...just not the exercise/step info...and it’s not showing up in the app on my phone either.

Are you allowing Apple Health permissions to read and write with MFP?

Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, I’m allowing all read/write permissions. I ended up factory resetting my Apple Watch, updating my watch software, updating my phone software (latest iOS on everything). It’s still not showing ANYTHING activity-wise on MFP. I wear my watch all day/night. I usually have it off for about 40 minutes every morning, to allow for charging. Nothing it records is being received or displayed by MFP. I’m at a loss!

That’s really strange. I would suggest reaching out to MFP support. I know they have a help section of the website.

I’ve lost these connections a few times now. Personally I find the Under Armour app the best to track workouts from my watch. You can then allow the data to be shared with MFP, which I also use to log food.

When they aren’t working I undo all permissions, clear the background app and reconnect them. Sometimes doing it once is enough, other times it takes a couple of goes!

Is this the app you use? Under Armour makes several.neqchm4coghl.jpeg

I looked up the above app and it has bad ratings as far as way too many people saying it doesn’t sync automatically with their Apple Health app, Apple Watch, or even MFP. I’ll give it a try, but my expectations are low. Meanwhile I’ll see if I can find anything else. Ty!

    Hi Amanda
my MFP & Apple Watch are paired, however since the last Watch Update, I’m seeing a discrepancy of 2 to 3,000 steps between the Watch & MFP.
For some reason MFP is not allowing AW to sync all steps. So I’ll reach, for example 12,000 watch steps and 8,500 will be recorded on MFP.
Have you had any success with transfer of information and correct syncing?

Mine isn’t syncing at all. Never has. Wish it did. I’ve tried everything.

To get it to register steps done on your watch, go into the mfp app and then go to three dots at the bottom as if you were going to the community pages, scroll down to steps and change your step count to watch instead of phone. Which watch are you using? My original series 1 watch was a pain for not syncing properly however I now use a series 3 and I haven’t found any problems with it

I have the second iteration of the Apple Watch. Not the one that came out recent, but not the first Apple Watch. Either way, I’ve tried everything. The app simply won’t register steps from my Apple Watch.

Well, as people are pointing out - the app doesn't register steps directly from Apple watch. Despite what the app settings sound like

Apple syncs data from their device to their software and then to your account, then from their account to the MFP account.

So steps must get into Apple account, must sync to MFP account, then must send to the app server for the MFP app to get the updates.

So a few places for potential error - but do understand MFP app is not talking directly to your Apple watch.

Is the same misinfo on the MFP web account?

Apple Health account is showing the steps and calorie burn correctly?
