Hi everyone, I have always been a fluctuated weight person and have eating anxiety. Sometimes my weight fluctuate 15- 25 pounds and I would loose it all and this has happened for about 5-7 times in my life I am 33 now. I am also facing challenges of using this app as once I see I’m making progress and I would stop using this but in the end I realize I really just have to stay with this and hold myself accountable.
I never used the forum nor followed any friends here before so I decided I would come here and provide you and gain some social support from everyone to keep ourselves motivated.
I wonder if anyone else had faced similar issue as me? Please share your story and how you overcome and maintain this.. also if you guys use MFP along the way or in and out..?

Brace yourself, this is going to sound harsh. To make major, real and lasting change in your life, you have to change your habits and your attitudes. Other people can only give advice, that you can follow or ignore - and it can be painful to hear something you will interpret as "everything you have ever believed or done, has been wrong". But it really is up to you. You are the one that makes any decision and action.
If you have an eating disorder/mental issues, get help.
Stick to what works.
Don't rely on motivation.

Yesterday I almost threw away nearly three weeks of dieting because of chips. I ate too many of them. And after that, I drove around thinking... "I want a treat! I want a brownie! I want a candy bar. I've already blown this day, so I'm not even going to log this one. I can't even remember what I ate all day. It was a lot. I'll get a treat and start over tomorrow... " That is how it starts for me - I step off the path and, instead of stepping right back on, I quickly jump on an unhealthy path. If I had gotten that treat and not logged on... would I have been done with MFP for a long time? Until the weight went up even higher? Luckily, I had someone expecting me to be someplace and literally did not have time to stop and get a snack. I ate a cough drop from the glove compartment (It was all I could find to stick in my face) and the urge passed. Then I logged my food before bed, all the food I could remember, and guess what? It wasn't that bad. So I'm back on track today, and I'm throwing away the rest of the chips. In the outside trash. Wish me luck! Good luck to you too! Put some gum and cough drops in your car. Always log on before bed, and give your self a pat for stepping back on the path.1

Hi! I also wanted to provide some support and let you know that many of us face these challenges as well. I fluctuate as well, more drastically than 15 lbs too. In high school I was 115 pounds, college went from 150 - 200, and now I’m at 220 looking at the long road ahead of losing 100 pounds. But it’s great that the app really allows you to be honest with yourself and your choices. If you select the correct calories and foods it’s fool-proof and you can maintain when needed. I’ve been motivated by how fool-proof it is...eat this many calories and you will lose weight/maintain/etc. If you keep going on the app it motivates you with reminders, days of success, and other things that keep you going (such as showing overall weight loss). Try and see the little successes in each day (no extra salt, walking for 30 mins, choose to drink coffee black, etc.). Another motivator would be to track what you normally would have eaten before the diet and look at the comparison. See how much fat/sugar you were eating before compared to what you are doing now to actively manage that. It shows you’ve come a long way and it’s something to be very proud of!!!1

Unfortunately weight loss journeys are so personal, what worked for me last time won't work for me this time. Last time, I used buying new clothes as a reward to motivate myself but this time I don't seem to care, so I came up with rewarding myself with something ridiculous that I really want but don't need and would never waste money on otherwise. It's working well for me. Just keep trying to find the thing that will keep you going because the only real way to lose weight is consistency.1
