Hi everyone.
I’m new to this app and recently decided I needed to start eating better to lose weight and just generally feel better in myself.
I lost my husband last year at age 29 and since then I have lost 3 stone taking me from 16 1/2 stone to 13 1/2 but this was due to stress and not eating. I don’t want to be on a diet, more of a lifestyle change and learn more about what I actually consume as I am clueless. I’ve lost another half stone using this app but was wondering if anyone could recommend any books or blogs worth reading to educate myself. Nothing too complicated to begin with if possible 🙂 also any motivation tips or tricks that work for you I would love to hear.
Also if anyone would like to become friends on here and support each other I would love that! Need all the help and motivation I can get

Read https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants
Then ask for advice pertaining to your specific situation.
Support and motivation is highly overrated when it comes to weight management.3 -
Absolutely agree with reading the link given above. Also read the success storiy board and gather advice from this board - the comments often don't agree but usually you can find some ideas which 'fit' with your lifestyle. In terms of support and motivation, some people do find having mfp friends with similar goals and/or outlook very helpful. It can provide you with someone to discuss your progress and ideas with and who can cheer you on and make the learning process more fun. I find that this avoids involving 'real life's family and friends, who either get bored discussing your 'diet or get jealous or disturbed by your weight loss. My advice is don't add too many friends and look for people whose posts you find inspirational, uplifting etc and who appear to have similar aims. It is a good idea to message someone you want to friend request with a brief description of you - and don't be offended if tgey don't accept. Good luck1

Thank you so so much for taking the time to reply Martha, I would definitely benefit from having a few friends on here that have similar goals or just a good outlook as that will help me stay motivated and hopefully I can help them in return.
I’ve only just discovered the community on here this morning and I will definitely be checking out the different boards.
I really appreciate your advice x2
