Pet Peeve? When people ask for help training but....

So I help my coworker join my gym, I trained her for a day took her food shopping & explained to her how to food prep. She came back once by herself to the gym & hasn’t been back since which was weeks ago. I asked her yesterday if I would see her at the gym in the morning not in a pushy or condescending way. Just in what I thought was an encouraging “let’s do this” type of way. But she had the nerve to like get mad and act as if I was bothering her. She got like super flustered and was like “Not now DJ”! Keep in mind I haven’t bothered her or bugged her about going to the gym because I’m just not like that. I honestly prefer to work out alone because I look at the gym as my “me time” but if someone asks me for my help I will never say no. This girl asked me for help and she wanted to get a “summer body” and blah blah blah. But it just really makes me think twice about helping people When they asked me for a workout and diet advice. It just felt like a slap in the face.

It's funny, as a personal trainer I see this all the time. A person is having a good day and they are all gung ho and looking to make positive changes.....the next day is a bad day and none of that stuff matters anymore. With out a mental change there is nothing that you, me, or anyone can do for someone like that. Don't take it personal.2 -

I agree. That’s literally exactly what happened.0 -
It's frustrating when things like that happen but at the end of the day the desire has to come from within. There's only so much you can do.2

Very good points everyone is bringing up here. I’m just going to not take it personal & never bring it up to her again. If she doesn’t want it bad enough I can’t change that.1

I've helped people with stuff before and I always think twice now. Unless you have the designation of personal trainer or coach (I do have this just but let it lapse) I find they'll question everything.
I'd suspect this woman though just had a rough patch. Maybe just asking how she's doing might help. Lots when they find it hard just give up. Maybe she did and needs to know everyone has to start somewhere2
