My weight loss story so far

Hi all! I don't know if this is the right section to be posting this as it's not really a success story (yet). My weight fluctuated because of my irresponsible eating habits that I couldn't keep up, and so I've gained a lot of weight since my initial losses. I just wanted to write about that here to put people off doing the same thing as me!

So I've always been a big girl (grew up in a family where we all LOVED food). At my peak I weighed around 210lbs at 5'6. I hated it. I've always been a very insecure person and during the end of secondary school developed agoraphobia and social anxiety. I couldn't leave my house for a couple of years unless I really had to, which didn't help with my fitness. But anyways, when I turned 17, I got a Wii Fit for my birthday, which helped tremendously because I had a way of losing weight that didn't require going outside. I also did some research on the internet/magazines on diets and obsessively counted my calories to the point where I'd only eat about 700-900cals per day.

After all this I ended up weighing around 135 lbs. I'd lost almost 70lbs, which was great and all, but I messed myself up with my terrible diet. My hair thinned out and I lost any muscle I had, and I had no energy. My stomach had no definition either. Eventually, I reverted back to my old ways because I couldn't keep up the diet along with the stress from college and such. So at the end of those 2 years I weighed around 172lbs. Yes, I gained almost 40lbs back :( It may be a mixed blessing though; now I can start to lose weight properly.

My goal is to lose at least a stone before I start university in October. Since my agoraphobia is gone I've been going to lots of cheap workout classes, courtesy of groupon. ;) I've been putting in extra effort to eat healthily and I've lost about 5 lbs, and now weigh about 167. I hope this means I'm well on my way. I'm using this website to help me with that goal, the app is pretty awesome for keeping track! Hopefully this has put some of you off from crash dieting; it just doesn't work, well not in my case anyway!

Now for the bit I'm sure you all want to see! Pics:

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that you are a beautiful girl, and I'm happy that you realized that eating that small amount of calories is NOT good for you :) You may have learned it the hard way, but you did learn it. MFP is a fantastic program with a lot of great people that will keep you on track and will let you know if you need to eat more :) 1200 calories is the minimum amount of calories needed, or else your body will go into starvation mode, as you've seen.

Feel free to add me, and you're welcome to join my support group if you're interested.

    Welcome!!

Thank you so much!! It's hard to lose weight the right way, that's for sure. And there must be something to talking about your progress to others, I've seen a lot of amazing changes from members here after browsing through the threads. And that would be great, I'd love to join your group!! :)

Ahh thank you!! I hope I can go back to the middle pics one day.

And thanks! I had no idea how to do that. I tried img src and when that didn't work I gave up.
