I'm a 42 year old wife and mother of 2. I've been through the baby years, toddler times and the teenage Groot phase. My kids are technically adults now but the pride, prayer and worry for them never goes away.

The past couple of decades or so have been a constant battle with depression, anxiety, OCD, and agoraphobia and while the medication helps keep my panic attacks at bay, the don't necessarily help me stay active.

When I was young, I couldn't gain weight for anything. My dad used to suggest I eat extra after I got really full trying to help me. Needless to say, I developed horrible eating habits and now overeat for every emotion I feel. Plus, I'm southern and they try to fry everything down here.

I'm trying to add friends on here to help hold me accountable and get my butt in gear.

I wish you all the best...I'm cheering for us all 😁

Welcome! I think you'll find the support you want here. I totally understand about Southern. I live in Alabama, and it can be a challenge to eat healthy, but once you step away from the frying pan, there is the grill. I bought an indoor grill to make it easier. I know about emotional eating and it is tough - just have to find an alternative. Good luck to you. You got this.

Southern gal here too and I am also a mother of two independent children. I'm new on MFP (a little over two weeks) but I can tell you what I've done to steer myself and my children away from the southern fried foods. I'm not sure how others will feel about this product but I purchased an Air Fryer over a year ago. Everything tastes the same (and some even better). I've never been a fan of anything fried (I prefer baked) but sweet potato fries are pretty tasty once in a while. My southern weakness and hard habit to break has been sweet tea. I caught myself the other day at Outback ordering it out of habit but quickly changed my order to water.

I was curious about an air fryer but afraid it wouldn't taste right. Good to know!
