Advice Much Appreciated on Losing Body Fat to Tone!

Hey guys! So I’m looking to shed, tone and tighten but haven’t had much luck in doing so while just working out and know I have to change things in the kitchen. I’m 125-130 lbs and sit around 16-17% body fat. My smart scale says I’m overweight but my body fat is low so I’m *hoping* if I shed some pounds I’ll look as the scale says I should. It’s frustrating working so hard just to have your progress covered by a few pounds. I normally do a 40% protein/30% carb/30% fat diet but have only recently been trying to stick to that. I had great success about a year ago losing weight entirely by portion control and not tracking calories or macros at all- Not sure I can do it again and either way I’d like to be more lean. The Keto diet is all the rage right now and I’ve been thinking about giving that a go. Any thoughts, ideas, or advice would greatly help!

How tall are you? At 16-17% body fat (taking that number with a grain of salt though, as it can be inaccurate if you're getting that number from your scale) there isn't much if anything you can lose.

Yes definitely- I’d be surprised if it were truly that low but either way. I’m 5’4”

You aren't overweight then. Overweight at your height doesn't start until 145 pounds.

If you're actually 16% bodyfat you're already pretty lean.

Yeah OP I have the same stats other than bf% and I don't look lean either because I never used to strength train. Check out the Most Helpful Posts threads pinned to the top of the Maintaining Weight forum (look for the Recomp thread there) and the top of the Gaining Weight forum (look for the Which Program thread). Building some muscle will help, but it will take patience and time

My body frame is small guys. 120 is typically my sweet spot but I’m not going for ‘skinny fat’. Those charts are all well and good but everyone’s body is different and 145 on me might as well be 200 because that’s what it would look like. I’m not saying I THINK 127 is overweight, just relaying what my eval said “)
