I’d managed to switch from regular Coke to Coke Zero, so I’m sort of glad for it0

No, because I don't see any reason to.0

Nope. I enjoy them and there's nothing wrong with using artificial sweeteners IMO.1

I think it depends on two factors. The first is which ones you're talking about. And the second is why. If the reason you're doing it is health related, it's a good reason. If you're doing it because of so-called "science" (internet science?) I would make sure that the science is reliable. Remember: we aren't mice.
I like stevia but find I sometimes have to rely on splenda and splenda for baking. I did try once to give them up but the alternative of honey or agave didn't work out so well for me as a diabetic.
But I wish you well on your attempt!

A doctor told me it would help with weight loss. I've also read it helps with thyroid. My thought is lose the weight, and see how I feel.1

That's a new one, I've never heard all artificial sweeteners being linked with thyroid issues. Diet drinks help keep me sane they hit the spot when I want a little sweet treat but don't have the calories, and splenda keeps my coffee/tea habit from costing me too many calories.
Artificial sweeteners only cause weight gain if you aren't tracking calories and they cause cravings or make you feel like since you saved calories on your drink now you can eat a cupcake! As long as you stick to your calorie goal, you'll lose weight with or without artificial sweeteners.
I can't speak to the thyroid thing as I'm not a doctor. Do you have a diagnosed thyroid condition. What type of doctor was it that told you about artificial sweeteners?3 -
I have always hated the taste of artificial sweetener of any kind. Yes, I taste it in everything. Turn out my body obviously can't digest them, as I get horrible diarrhea after ingesting even small amounts. So mo artificial sweetener for me, ever. If I want a coke, I have a regular coke, thankyouverymuch!1

I like my artificial sweeteners. Coke Zero, Diet Pepsi, Diet Mt. Dew, etc... and other treats like Halo Top.
My friend Marvin says they are going to kill me. I say not as fast as being overweight will. That said I have lost over 75 pounds and use so many artificial sweeteners that I could be one of Marvin's rats that are protesting so much about their use.
Do they cause sugar cravings? Probably, so I'll have another Coke Zero if I am out of Calories of Carbs for the day. Some of the folks on Keto say they can nock them out of ketosis and others say they don't.1 -
I actually prefer the “cleaner” taste of Coke Zero to regular Coke.0

Just a regular doctor. I've given up on thyroid doctors, did that for 5 years and only gotten worse. I'm working on treating symptoms now.0 -
I stopped eating any artificial sweeteners because they were giving me digestive problems. It took a week before I got used to my coffee without it and now (5years later) fake sweeteners just taste disgusting to me.1

Yes, I did, but I gave up when I figured out there was no point. I don't use that much of it anyway, and the little I use can't have any adverse effects.
A doctor told me it would help with weight loss.
I would have loved to ask him/her about this, but actually, I wouldn't bother. Things either have an effect ot no effect - "helps" means nothing. Be careful with doctors who uses language like that.1
