Does anyone have a generalization of calories burned for the P90X work outs? I usually google and guess. I would just like to try and get a more acurate number. Thanks y'all.

For the strength training with ab ripper I typically burn 400-500 with my HRM. Kenpo, about 600. And Plyo I can burn over 800 if I really push myself. P90X is the best though!0

I typically burn around 350-450 for the strength training workouts and about 590-650 for the cardiovascular workouts. Just done with my 1st week. I am a runner so the cardiovascular parts of P90X while fun are not really, really tough for me.
Best thing if you can do so is to get a heart rate monitor so that you can more accurately measure for your age/weight/height etc.0 -
I burn about 450 on average....but I think that might be high for some people0

I'm 5'3" and about 125lb and my burns are generally between 400-500 according to my HRM, but I give it my all.. If you're not bringing it, you could easily only burn 200.
This excludes Yoga X. I hate yoga because I only burn 200 for 90 minutes of contorting my body and sweating my *kitten* off.
Added: I burn about 100 more than usual when I do the cardio workouts.0 -
I really don't like Yoga X and have replaced it with a good cardio workout..yuck..
Had to edit this post because that didn't come across right..lol...I was whining a bit...0 -

It depends... I would recommend wearing heart rate monitor for accurate cals burned estimates. I've seen anywhere from 300 to 1000 cals.
Yoga is an essential part of X IMO, so I would not recommend replacing it with anything other than another yoga routineOn the other hand I don't particularly care for KenpoX, burn pretty low amount of cals during it, so have been replacing it with different cardio routines out of Insanity, P90X and P90X One on One series.
Good luck!0 -
From everything I've read on here u need a heart rate monitor. Everyone will burn different because it goes by how hard u push yourself and then your height weight sex etc. If your like me who doesn't have a hrm, I use mfp-for strength use circuit training, kenpo is kickboxing, cardio x and pylo use aerobics high impact and ab ripper is sit ups vigorous. Yoga is yoga and core synergistics log under aerobics general-hope this helps you0

LOVE KempoX0 -
That's cool, but having martial arts background I can't do some of the moves without thinking of how silly they are...
Plus, I can only get a decent burn during an hour of KenpoX wearing weighted gloves... At the same time I can pickup a 38-minute Insanity cardio routine and be sitting in the pool of my sweat by the end of it.

Like the star block??? I had to remove that one. Did a lot of martial arts in my teens/twenties as well.
Don't get me wrong..I like the Kenpo routine from a cardio perspective but I wish they included a good arm/shoulder warm up routine before starting punches. Tony warms up the legs in the warm up and then focuses on punches for the first 30 minutes...jeez...lol0 -

Haha, yeah, same here. I did it once, looked at my HRM, said, "WTF, that's it?!" and never did it again. I sometimes sub Kenpo or Plyo for a good run, too.
I like Yoga, just not Yoga X.. Going from Downward Dog to the Warrior poses repeatedly for a half hour makes me really angry.0 -

I feel dumb sometimes, but have never done anything like it. I think I just like pretending to kick and punch *kitten* lol...I like it because it is different0
