Hi. I'm Teresa from NM. I'm 54 almost 55. I joined WW a year ago because my diabetes type 2 numbers had gone up. In a year lost a small amount of weight... Less than 10 pounds... But my numbers are much better and I'm motivated. Now I'm having significant not horrible joint pain so I'm even more motivated. MFP works better for me than WW because I react poorly to what I perceive as restriction. But I have learned the value of posting! So here I am! Goals: 1-bike into the bike shop. 2-walk into the local gym at least once in the next week 3-track every day. 4-post every week until I lose 10 pounds

A long downward trend you can actually live with is your best friend in weight loss. CICO will work over time but few are willing to put in the time. Good going.

Every pound you're overweight adds 4lbs of stress on your knees. I was around 280lb and have lost about 65 lb. Still have 40-50 to go. As you're going to the gym, can I suggest you try a recumbent bike? I bought one and have used it almost every day since January. The strength I've been able to build in my knees has made a significant difference to my pain. I have almost none right now. I'm scheduled for a double knee replacement on 27 Aug and the physio told me that building strength provides for a much faster recovery. As you're not scheduled for joint replacement, you might find you can avoid it in the longer term. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I will check out the recumbent bike!
