Miso soup is the classic use.
My cheat's version is making broth with instant dashi powder. Add some small cubes of tofu and chop some spring onions into the broth. In a small bowl, whisk some miso with a ladle full of the broth then throw that back into the broth. If you add miso to large amount of broth you end up with miso pellet soup. Then season to taste with soy sauce. If you want extra protein whisk in a beaten egg. If you want extra veg, throw in some slivered white cabbage. Google miso soup if you want classic versions of this recipe. This is a nice way to have something warm on a night you get takeaway sushi because it is too hot to cook.
My other frequent use is miso roasted aubergines. The recipe below is an example. My household finds most of the recipes too sweet and we just brush on a mixture of miso with mirin (Japanese rice wine similar to sweet white vermouth) and skip any addtional sugar or honey in the recipe.

I forgot this is another typical miso application I use. Sauteed green beans with miso buter. This recipe would probably work with other sauteed veg such as spinach or chopped cabbage.

I forgot another favourite use is for miso/caramel sauce which turns vanilla or coconut ice cream into something exotic and slightly asian. This is similar to the recipe I use but I prefer coconut milk to stick to the asian theme
