Extensor Digitorum Pain when releasing weights

When I'm using a dumbbell on my left arm I get a sharp pain in what I can only assume is by extensor digitorum muscle up near my elbow (see photo) when I put down the weight and release my fingers. Any idea what is going on and if there is anyway to avoid it?
I tried doing a wrist extension exercise on a lighter weight as that was the only one I can find associated with this muscle.

Try stretching & massaging it often. For stretching, just open your hand and spread the fingers away from each other, then close them tightly into a ball. Repeat a few times every hour.
Here's another stretch that may help: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ayhu7TzNGSQ
To massage it, feel around for tender spots and rub them with your fingers/thumb for a minute, a few times a day.
Using a reminder app might help if you forget.
Check that your keyboard is high enough so the back of your wrist is straight, not bent, which can tighten the forearm,
