    calorie deficit to lose weight.

do high protein if you happen to like eating high protein, but it should be a style of eating that is sustainable for you.

I don't know how many calories I was eating before and what I'm eating now ? I've cut all the cakes and junk food out and gone straight to the high protein low carbs to lose weight hoping it works ?

you're on a calorie counting site, so its pretty simple to work out how many calories you're eating?

So if you eat to the calorie goal that MFP gives you, you'll lose weight.

Highly suggest reading some of the stickies in the forums, and general internet searching about counting calories.

-You can get fat with high protein and low carb just like you can high carb low protein. For weight gain/loss calories are what matter. If you ate 3000 calories it would be the same as 3000 calories in butter. (The old trick question, what weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of lead? Answer: equal, both a pound)

-When doing weight training, most would assume it is for body sculpting...trying to make the muscles stand out. The high rep low weight thing is just false. Much more efficient to do some heavy lifts several times a week, and cardio (if you do it at all) on off days. Highly suggest reading about stronglifts or aworkoutroutine. Side note: that cardio you are doing before your weight training is negatively impacting your training. Warm up for weight training by doing the lifts you will be doing at a lighter weight...again, check out aworkoutroutine for more info.

-Most importantly, be honest and accurate in your logging. Kind of the whole *kitten* point of the site. You fudge the numbers to make yourself feel better and you *kitten* up the system you are trying to use.

You need a calorie deficit to lose weight, that's it.

If you enjoy a high protein low carb diet then that's great, keep it up. If you don't, then don't. It's not necessary, it's more important that you are consistent with a calorie deficit.

MFP is a calorie counting site, so it's really easy to set up an amount. Just have a look in goals, enter your stats and it'll give you the figures to work with. Adjust macros to suit your preferences.
