family nutrition plan implementation

I've got to get the high sugar, high carb content out of our family's diet. I love raw veggies and fruits, but my husband and son are allergic to raw foods. I feed a family of five with the children aging from 3 to 10. I am horrible in the kitchen. I ate great in college when it was just me and kept my weight very low. But it seems like I've forgotten how, it just didn't take much variety for me. The variables are overwhelming with allergies, picky eaters, TIGHT budget, and NOT a good cook....Does anyone have advice or resources that can simplify the process of healthy meals in a family... I want to be in and out of the kitchen... I've put this off and it has to change NOW!!!

I switched my family to healthier options, i.e Sara Lee 45 calorie delightful bread, turkey breast and ham. Sugar free jello and popsicles, cheese sticks, etc. I work 50 hours a week and dont always have time to cook. We eat alot of sandwiches and salad or soup. When I do cook, I use turkey instead of beef or pork. I don't buy big bags of chips and cookies never make their way into the house. My son is extremely picky. You gotta read labels and buy whats best for them that they will eat. At least that is what worked for me...

Allergic to raw foods doesn't make sense to me. What do you mean allergic?0

Do they have an allergic reaction to some raw fruits and vegetables but are able to eat them cooked? I have that problem with onions, and it's related to a type of hay fever...very strange. Anyway, if that's the case can you just cook the veggies up for them? I eat a lot of steamed fresh veggies, just pop them in a bowl with seasonings, add about a half cup of water, cover with plastic wrap and nuke for about 4-5 minutes. They come out just about perfect every time!0

This! I don't get it either.0 -
I hate cooking, and yeah, try to cook healthy and things small children like. We have a lot of tacos, meatloaf, simple things like chicken breast with barbeque, rice and veggies from a can.0

Allergic: It makes the inside and outside of their mouths itch and tingle... mainly just uncomfortable.0
