Anyone deal with this, and know how to fix it? If I put in a "hard" workout I always end up so fatgued, about 30 minutes after I'm done, to the point that I literally cannot keep my eyes open. Any thoughts?

I did 20 minutes of calisthenics today, vigerous effort. As in my whole body was dripping sweat. Took a shower, and shortly after passed out for an hour. I woke up still feeling tired.

How's your nutrition? Are you feeding yourself adequately and appropriately? What about post-workout nutrition?

Keep it up! Your body will get used to it and you'll get stronger.
  • You may want to check on your blood pressure? At the very least, I'd recommend that you check with your physician! This sounds like something you should not take lightly! Best of luck!

Are you new to working out. This is normal if you are. Make sure you are eating enough during the day too.

Whem I am out of shape I feel that way. Now that I have been running a lot, its a lot better. Actually Im more awake after running. Just stick with it and it will get better. Also, if you can, try not to sleep. Dont training your body to sleep right after a work out.

Are eating enough to fuel your body for exercise? Hydration is key, too! Especially if you are putting in a good sweat.

Well MFP has me on a 1200 calorie diet. I'm pretty good about making sure I get 1200-1300 on the days that I work out. I do my best at eating well, plenty of veggies and protein. Post workout is usually yogurt, or cheese for me.

I'm definitely well hydrated. I'm not 100% sure about my nutrition, I responded to another about that.

There's a reason that the suggestion "consult a physician before starting any exercise program" is a part of all equipment and plans. It could be any number of things, including what has already been said, and as it was in my case, thyroid disease. I felt exactly like you did, but because of my apnea and related narcolepsy, I would actually fall asleep uncontrollably after intense activity. (Not like on TV where you just flail about and fall out, but I would have to lay down where I was to make sure that didn't happen) On more than one occasion while doing farm work at a family farm, I fell asleep in the middle of the gravel road, and once, in a patch of nice soft poison ivy. Those were the good old days.

Get a good, thorough physical that includes thyroid panel (T3, T4, TSH), blood lipids, fasting blood sugar, and the usual. It may seem expensive, but it will be the best investment in creating a healthy lifestyle. It gives you baselines for everything, and then as your body changes and becomes stronger, you will find those numbers change.

By the way, with my thyroid in check ($4/month levothyroxine), and some weight loss, I no longer have as severe apnea and no longer have narcolepsy. I worked hard clearing land today for a little over an hour, and still have energy to come to work for 8 hours after. HOO-aah!

In short: get those numbers, and be in the know!

I have been working out off and on for a while, no where near as consistent as I should have been. So yea, I"m still pretty out of shape. I will try to not let myself sleep in the future.
  • there is a good chance that your just not use to it yet, keep it up and it should go away on its own. you also might want to try taking a Vitamin B supplement you many just not have sufficient staff of B in your system.

also if it doesn't go away on it own it about a week or so talk to your doctor it could be a very real issue! Problems with your thyroid or Diabetes, and hyper/hypo glycemia and others can cause the issue your are describing

I never thought about that. I deal with hypoglycemia. I'm going to do some research on it. That could very well be what the problem is. Thank you!

I'm the exact same way and my trainer says its because I'm not eating enough.
