Overcoming discouragement

Hi all. I’ve been on the app several times and eventually I get busy and fall back into old habits. Since trying the app again and working out over this past month, I’ve lost about 30 pounds. I’m starting to reach the point where I’m no longer making any progress. My question is, how do I overcome the feeling of doubt and discouragement in this weightloss journey. What has worked for you, or others that you know? My goal is to lose 60 more pounds by next year, although I’m hoping it doesn’t take that long... if you’d like to add me or message me with some ideas, support, or accountability, I’d love the help. Thanks.

Patience, and thinking about how I'm going to maintain the new, lower weight for the rest of my life.4

I can only offer my own, very recent experience of this as an example. I was losing steadily until I was only 10-15lbs away from my goal, at which point it seemed to stall. I made sure my logging was accurate, I kept working out, I told myself it would come off if I just had patience...
Well, I lost my patience, and fell into the 'ah, what's the point?' trap. The thing that had been powering me through was the gratification of seeing measurable results, when really, it should have been discipline. Several weeks of pizzas later, and I put on nearly 10lbs.
In my opinion, self-discipline > motivation, any time. Motivation comes and goes, and depends on your mood at the time. If I FEEL like prepping that low-calorie meal or doing that hour of cardio, great. But self-discipline is there for precisely those times when I DON'T feel like doing it, and it's the real reason why I lost that 10lb again.3 -
I urge you to rethink. I’m not holding myself out as an expert, but I think the radical program you are pursuing is going to result in a big hit to muscle mass. Maybe do some research.
Coping with discouragement is a big issue in weight loss. Kudos for facing it head on. But any advice I would offer you would involve patience. It’s a 180 degree turn from what you’re trying to do.4 -
I'm not sure I understand why you are feeling discouraged. How long have you been using the app this time? I can't tell if you've been losing the app for a month or just working out for a month. Because 30 lbs is a lot to lose in a month and my hunch is if you think it's a good rate of loss, your definition of "no longer making any progress" could be losing 1-2 lbs per week, which is a plenty fast enough rate of loss.

I agree with above post about 1-2 pounds per week. I’m in the same boat and have lost 5.5 pounds in the last 25 days it may seem slow but I like my diet and I like the gym routine I’m doing. If I can see a slow steady decline in weight and better body composition to hit my goals I will stick with it, in the end it’s ho badly do you want it? How much are you willing to sacrifice to be the person you want to be? If you’re not enjoying your diet and exercise make a small tweak to it so you can enjoy it1

I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately as well. Lost the first ~25 lbs with measurable success every week. Now that I’m 36 lbs down and only 14 to go before my original goal, it seems like the scale stalls out for 2-3 weeks and then suddenly I see it drop 3-4 lbs. While the scale isn’t moving, sometimes it’s hard to stay positive. I’m in another one of those funks right now.
The thing I try to remember is that time will pass no matter what. I would rather spend my time continuing to work towards my goal rather than falling backwards. Every little step forward is a win. Just keep working and believing in yourself.0 -
I promised myself a new tailored suit when I hit my goal weight, I have a pic of the one I want on my bathroom mirror.1
