New here, day 3. Does the potassium on everyone else's diary come out really low? I have days that don't reach 5% RDV and foods listed as 0 that should have some

Manufacturers haven't been required to report potassium so the nutrition facts don't give the full story for that micronutrient. New rules are being implemented in the US so the situation should get better. Even after the switch to the new rules, some users might not include it when they enter an item into MFP so you need to double-check the entries that you use for completeness and accuracy.

As long as it doesn't have a green checkmark, yes.

I don't edit other people's entries. What I do is enter all of the things I eat into My Foods without sharing with the database. That takes time to set up (but not really much more time than double-checking existing entries would) but gives me control over accuracy and food names and ensures that no one can go back behind me and edit.

Yup! I have my own My Foods page of private, accurate entries. It really doesn't take that long to set up because we mainly eat from within a group of specific foods. For example, chicken breasts, skinless. Once you have the correct entry in grams and input it once, it's there whenever you need it.

The main database (because it's crowd-sourced) is very prone to inaccuracies. I've found some pretty hilarious entries in my travels there. ;)

You can search out entries that include potassium count. USDA-based ones normally do. With care, you can get a pretty good idea of how you're doing.

I track Potassium and can hit 100% daily if I log all my fruit and Veg with "usda" entries. So if you search "usda potatoes" rather than potatoes (for example) you tend to find more complete entries with the micros filled in.

oh - just saw your post @Zinka61 - it was you have I got this top from. ... it's my habit now. It's a great tip, the entries are generally very reliable.
