Weekly Weigh In or not

Hi All,
Just wanted to find out what other people thought about your weekly weigh in..............
A friend told me that she only gets weighed once a month and she finds that she is able to stick to her healthy lifestyle alot easier as she dosent see the monthly weigh in as something to be dreaded, and more of something to look forward too.
Not to sure what to do, I would love to jump on those scales tomorrow (end of first week of MFP diet/healthy eating) and hopefuly woop for joy, but think that maybe I would get more satisfaction if I just did it once a month.
What do you think?

I weigh in "offically" once per week, but check the scales every few days. I would hate for an entire month to go by not lose, but by checking my weight weekly I can see if the what I'm doing is working.0

I personally weigh daily. I like to keep certain track of every pound gained or lost so that if there is a problem (or something extra good going on!) I can see what it is and cut it out (or add more of it...) before it gets to be a huge problem.
I don't think there is a magic weight check frequency. Do what works for you.0 -
It’s all about what you can handle and that you have the understanding how weight can change on a weekly basis. I only weigh about once a month as well. It can be depressing as you work out sweat and feel like your ding everything then you get on the scale and see you have gained a pound or two. You clothes will tell you how well you’re doing. But if you like living by the number then it can work for you as well0

I think weekly is fine, some poeple weigh every other day which I personally think is pointless. I have sometimes weighed after 2 weeks, its entiirely up to you.
I see your friends point though, if you weigh monthly you will be spurred on by the fat it will seem more but atleast weekly or 2 weekly you can monitor what you eating and if you stay the same or gain for any reason you can try fix it for the next week x0 -
Hi,
I weigh in every 2 weeks because I find that every week is not enough time in between. I was weighing in weekly and I have been losing so slow that many weeks I wouldn't lose at all. I felt great so I thought for sure I had last a few lbs but was sadly mistaken several times. It feels good to step on the scale and see progress so I choose once every 2 weeks. :-)
Hope that helps.0 -
I weigh in once a week...every Monday...It has helped me keep a better track of where I'm at...The only time I get cranky about the scales is when it's that time of the month....I put on up to 6lbs that week, EVERY month...yes, it comes right off as soon as I start, but still hate it! lol
I'd wait another week since you've only been on here 1 week...and then weigh in weekly...just remember, your weight fluctuates daily, so don't get on everyday...
pick one day and do it that day every week at the same time(best time first thing in the morning after you've had your first bathroom visit!0 -
Once per week is good for a weigh in. Allows you to see if your weekly weight loss goal is working.0

I think at the moment I will weigh in every fortnight, and then have a look and see if things are working out.
Thank you so much for all your suggestions, this has got to be the first time that I have ever felt positive about a diet/healthy eating plan. xxx0 -
Personally, I weigh monthly. My weight fluctuates so often week to week, that it's not worth it *for me*. And despite knowing that, I still get down on myself when I see those numbers going up. And yes, it does take away the dread as well.
I saw weigh weekly to get a feel for it and then adjust from there.0 -
I weigh in weekly. It used to be every 3 weeks (weighed in at weight watchers and working shifts meant I could only go every 3 weeks) but I found I'd only really stick to it for that week before weigh in. I think it's whatever works for you really. I can handle only seeing half a pound lost or a stay the same but other people get discouraged by it.0
