My Motivation, whats yours?

One of my motivations can be seen in my profile pic. When my wife and I ride together (I'm 300+, she's 120), she doesnt have much room behind me. It's hard on her legs and knees to have to move them out so far. This pic was taken last week at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and you can see how squished she is. She made a deal with me that if I lose 80lbs, I can buy a new Harley Ultra Classic Limited. Now THATS got my fire lit!!!

You have a beautiful family, and what a great wife to reward you with such an awesome bike!

My motivation is that I have two daughters and I don't want them to have to struggle their whole life with their weight. It's all consuming, and I want them to be consumed by something much more appropriate for girls, like clothes or boys or magazines or something!

I qualified for the Dressage Championships in my region and am taking the plunge and going. Since the judging is much more stringent and the competition tougher, I decided, I needed to lose 25lbs and 2 sizes. I figured I needed all the help I can get to be competitive. I also get the benefit of feeling better, being fitter and just plain looking better on the the back of my horse. I'm already down 1 1/2 sizes and on track to 25lbs off by the competition in September.

Hey man I say go for it! That is quite the motivation, my motivation was literally life or death, doc said i would die in my sleep, dx as morbid obese with sleep apneia and at the time was married to a woman who found me so disgusting that she wouldn't even hug me. I got depressed after losing the one job in life for 12 years and seemingbly everyone loved me because of the money i made. After the doc insulted me i had a "turning point" and said i will do this for myself and prove to everyone that i am somebody so i started and in a year i went from 345 to 240 size 50 to 36 and my children have their father back (my biggest motivation) they were the only ones who never cared how i looked and they are the ones who get me 100% .. good luck on you alls journey just know that no matter what YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

What's not my motivation?! :) This is why I'm changing my life: I want to have children without all the health risk in the next few years. I want to be healthy and here for them as long as possible when I do have them. I want to hike, canoe, play tennis, kayak, ride bikes, jog, climb mountains...ha....anything outdoors with my fiance, instead of spending our weekends sitting in front of the tv or looking at all the beauty around us from a windshield when we take our drives. I want to be strong, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally and I want to be confident because all this fat as squished it out...and I want to reach my goal and be able to help others who struggle like I do/have....whew...when I read this makes me think: "where's my treadmill and weights!"

    Good luck to you!

Hiya!! My motivation is to be a trophy wife!! Seriously though, it is to feel better physically and emotionally. I want off my meds for diabetes and high blood pressure. I want to be the one who inspires instead who is constantly reading the inspiring stores and thinking to myself "I wish I could to that" or "I wonder how they did it" especially when it is laid out in front of me in black and white. I'm tired of being tired all the time, I'm tired something on me hurting all the time.

Anywayyyy...welcome to MFP, feel free to add me as a friend! :drinker:

Right now just MFP and light walking. I work for the DOD at and Air Force Base so I get an hour a day 3 days a week paid to workout so trying to take advantage of that. I have a slightly herneated disc in my neck I'm nursing right now so dont want to make it worse. Would like to try to incorporate some P90X I've had for 2 years and never done it.

Riding is one my motivations as well. I ride a 550, so I know my small bike will thank me for it when I lose 100lbs.

My motivation is me! I have guys hitting on me, but not the right kind, the dirty icky guys. My motivation is my health, my family has a history of health issues that stem from obesity. My motivation is I'd like to try and do some modeling, maybe try and make some more $, and be independent from a crap situation, that always seems to bring me down.

My motivation? I don't ever want to feel as I did when I was morbidly obese. I love, love, love the energy and enthusium I have now. I love knowing I can walk for hours, run, hike, and just move.

And most importantly, I want to be healthy and happy as get older. I think a lot of motivation comes from the fact I don't want to have all the health issues my mother is dealing with. If she would just eat healthy and move a bit a more, she would be feel so much better...

I'm right there with ya! BP, 2 kinds of cholesterol meds, diuretic etc. My dad had a heart attack at 38, died on the table having double bypass surgery at 39. My doc says he wants to treat me as if I've already had a cardiac event, which I havent, due to my family history. I'd like to take that off the table with good health.

I don't want my girls to grow up and have no pictures of us together.

I want them to be proud to say that's my mum!

My first grandchild will be arriving next month and I want to be able to keep up with him when he starts moving around! I also want to be healthy so I can spend many years spoiling him :) Another thing is, my husband is 14 years younger than me. When we met, I was 35 pounds lighter than I am now. The last thing I want to do is give him a reason to leave me for someone simply because she's in better shape than I am.
