Calories burned working Retail?

Hey All:
I was wondering if anyone has a calorie/excercise count for working retail. I ask because for my full time job - I sit in an office chair all day. Last night, I started back at my old job through college and high school to make some extra cash.
I am just working part-time at PacSun so I was wondering if anyone has a count that I am able to log because I don't know if I will make it to the gym on those days with working 12-14 hours.
Thanks! :flowerforyou:

i would put it as leisurly walking for however long your at work since im sure you are walking most of th eitme.0

Or adjust your activity level from sedentary (desk job) to more active. MFP will adjust your calorie allotment based on these settings.0

I don't know about "working" retail, but when I go out for "retail therapy" I usually log half of the time I spent as walking at 2.0 mph.
So if I shop for 2 hours, I just put that I walked for 1 hr at that pace.
I think this is going to be something you have to play with, because MFP overestimates cals burned. You don't want to go home thinking that you burned 500 cals (and eat all of that back) when you really just burned 100-200, ya know?0 -
Only log extra if you take a walk during lunch or something. I would not log a retail job as a workout separate from your daily calorie burn.0

Oh yes, this was going to be my other suggestion.0 -
Work calories should be counted in your lifestyle. You may need to adjust that setting to reflect the new job. Though you are on your feet a lot, your heart rate isn't up so in my opinion, it doesn't count as exercise.0

Better yet don't count those calories and stay on your current regimen, reap the benefits of those extra calories burned ( just to see if they made a difference) and go from there.0

I only work once or twice a week so it would not make sense for me to adjust my calories for the entire week for 1 or 2 days...I did think of that as well though!
I think I may not log the calories and just reap the benefits. I am just bummed that I can not work out those days because I do not have time working 12 - 14 hours. I was trying to figure out a way around it more or less...0 -
there is a fitness calculator online that you enter in all your info and it tells you what calories burn doing what. if you really want to log them i would log half to 3 quarters of what that calculator says if that makes sense0

You can adjust for each individual day. But if that is too much work then I agree to just log it as light walking.0 -
personally, I work retail, and when I have worked a lot I naturally wind up more hungry and eating more. like today I worked 11 hours of retail and ate 300 more calories (not on purpose) so much as I just ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was full. I am constantly running around and lugging piles of clothes around at my job though (high volume outlet) so I am definitely burning calories.0
