Read up on Atkins. You also need to eat your veggies.

I've seen others post that they use carb, fat and protein ratio of 5%, 30%, and 65%, respectively. It's something of an estimate depending on which phase you're in. Remember to eat more than MFP is telling you to eat, as well. If your MFP goal is 1200, eat at least 1500 calories while eating low carb.
  • thanks for the info.:)

While not on atkins myself, I've gone Keto for a long time and read and studied the Atkins book for my clients. I would honestly take a few hours and read the book, it's pretty sound. It's not always a super super low carb thing, there are phases, which is good. It starts very low keto, then adds in some carbs after the first few weeks until you get to your goal weight, then you can add a few more and find your sweet spot.

A person who does 5% carbs, shouldn't eat below 150grams of carps. A study was done, and they found that you lose muscle mass if you eat less despite your weight.
  • Mine is based on a 2000 calorie diet.... though I never eat that much. 20 net carbs is about 5% carbs... then I let the rest calculate... But I am also new, only been doing it for a month and a half. Add me! We can encourage each other together!

Sounds like you're just jumping in to things with out researching them, this can lead to big tie failure. Here go to the webpage.
http://www.atkins.com/Homepage.aspx there is a blondish lady, to her left it says "phase 1", "phase 2","phase 3", "phase 4","phase 5"

Click on each phase, so you understand atkins fully.
  • 20 net carbs is during induction phase only. While they recommend induction for 2 weeks, you can do it longer if you have a lot of weight to lose. Net carbs = carbohydrates - dietary fiber - sugar alcohols. Definitely go to the site and do your research before diving in. I think that is the only way you can do it right :)

For me, I have been in induction since July 1st, but there were two random weeks where I ate really bad, so I would I have been doing this for about a month. Of course I have over 100 lbs to lose. Just make sure you go through the phases.
