I did a lot of work this week to eat healthy and get some physical activity in. It has taken time away from other things I'd rather be doing. The result: I gained a pound. According to my diary, I should be 6 pounds lighter in 5 weeks, but it isn't happening. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it? I don't want this to be a lot of work for nothing.

if you are new to exercise or have increased intensity your muscle could be storing excess water which is normal and aids in recovery and protects them from the "damage" exercise causes them. Once you get used to the new routine, your muscles should shed the excess water.

I’ve been exercising regularly but just started tracking calories last week in an effort to lose weight. I’m eating about 1400 calories and haven’t seen any weight loss in the past week. I know I have to be patient but I was hoping that even a half pound loss would be good motivation to keep going.

There are a lot of reasons for scale fluctuations other than actual fat gain. It’s not going to continually go downward week after week. And it’s only been a week, give it some time.

Give it some time. You didn't gain your weight in one week. Invest in yourself and your health, by making changes now you will reap the rewards over time, not only in weight loss, fitness but in general you will be shaping your future self - imo totally worth it!

Firstly, the 5 week prediction is a load of tosh, ignore it.

But, secondly, how can you say that it isn't right when you haven't even stuck to it for 5 weeks?!

What did you that was a lot of work? What are you doing that takes time away from eating healthy and moving your body? Have you been at it for five weeks yet?
