Hey, I'm new. In summer 2016 I was struck by lightning and it really messed with the muscle function in my right lower half and it really threw a wrench in my workout efforts. In the fall of 2016, I became pregnant, suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum and severe postpartum depression. I lost 25 lbs while pregnant and lost another 25 in the 3 months postpartum.

I have now gained all of that back and then some and am REALLY struggling with sticking to a diet and getting the motivation up to exercise. I have a severe social anxiety about going to the gym. It makes me uncomfortable and I have no area to work out at home and, let's be honest, getting out of the house would be good for my anxiety and depression.

For diet, I stick to an 80% vegetarian diet solely because I really don't like meat. I'll hit up a fish fry on Friday but that's about it. My issue is I work at a desk and sitting there... all I want to do is eat. I drink 1-1.5 gallons of water a day to try and stave it off but good god... an office sitting really makes you want to munch all damn day!

So any help with how to get over the anxiety of a gym, how to not eat my weight in snacks in an office setting, awesome vegetarian recipes, etc. would be gladly accepted :)

I just want to hug you. I can't speak to your anxiety because I am not in your shoes. I will say that any gym that is serious will welcome you. Most people at a serious gym will be doing there own thing and will not bother you.

You look like a young woman who has been through a lot already. I think you are stronger than you know. I like your diet. i would say find a diet program and stick to it like your life depends on it. Chin up, you can do it!

The office snacking and sitting are my biggest challenges as well. I also crave sweets at night so there's that too. It takes time and loads of effort but you will get there! I believe in you!
